A Nicholas County man was sentenced to six years in prison and three years of supervised release Thursday for the distribution of oxycodone.
Bradley Eric Backus, 31, of Mount Nebo was sentenced after he previously admitted to participating in a drug trafficking enterprise in Craigsville from 2008 to June 2010.
He admitted to selling about 1.5 oxycodone tablets to an informant working for the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force for $160 on June 28, 2010. The informant paid Backus $200 for an earlier drug transaction.
The transaction took place at the Craigsville residence of Chrissy May, 33, Backus' codefendant.
The task force executed a search warrant on May's resident June 29, 2010, and found four firearms, three whole and six partial 80-milligram oxycodone tablets, a small amount of marijuana and a Sentry safe.
That day, with a warrant for the safe, the task force found about $21,651 cash. About 550 80-milligram oxycodone tablets, about 43 hydrocodone tables, 91 Valium tablets and two 9-millimeter pistols were also recovered.
Backus implicated himself in a voluntary statement on June 30, 2010. He also named May and other individuals from Detroit. He said he had been involved in drug activities with May for more than two years and she received more than 2,000 oxycodone tablets a month.
In July, May was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison.
