Could we please have a little more detail. Seem's to me that this couple may have been a husband and wife truck driving team hauling waste to a dump site and didn't realize that something was punctured and leaking. How does a chemical spill for 13 miles?

Electrolysis waste. Could be anything.

I wonder how they caught them? Someone must've ratted them out.

Sounds as thought they thought they were being clever in disposing of the material. Just pour it out over a wide enough area and nobody will notice and disposal is cheap. Even if it was an "accident" and they allowed this crap to spill upon the roads due to carelessness, they should pay a strong penalty, even jail time.

Not even a date on this? Why does WLTX NEVER date their headlines? No wonder their ratings are going down, even the stories are so vague that we could have a war done and over with before they'd post a thing about it.

Will rain carry to groundwater or rivers? If so, should clean up not be expedited?

You guys publish the least information per news story. Did the couple deliberately spill the liquid was it an accident are they in the business of transporting hazardous waste???

I am the female portion of the couple. NOONE ratted us out but ourselves when we went into DHEC the next morning and spoke with the receptionist begging for help. This is what they didnt tell you. But many of the facts were never presented until we went to court 2 years later. The neatest part is if you get all the news articles and read them you will realize that the officials are the ones who truly contaminated the ground by spreading water on hazardous chemicals and them running off into the soil.
