The Kent area is just becoming a ghetto. My neighbor's son has been jumped twice while walking home from jr. high and another neighbor was attacked while jogging, beaten and her rib broken. The police don't care and the neighborhoods look run-down. We're moving b/c it's too frightening to live here!

It has. I live near Clark lake park and there has been so many drug busts. Some kids at my friends junior high (mill creek) robbed a donut shop with guns. On a the top 300 most dangerous US cities kent is #60.

Just moved in a year ago and this isn't what I want to hear, however, we haven't had any problems yet. We as a community shouldn't allow this to happen within our nieghborhoods.

This is kind of off topic, but I'm moving to Kent,WA from Indiana in October. Any advice on places to go, places to avoid, etc.? I've been there several times and have always found it pleasant and quiet.

Kent is a real problem area. Due to transient population and immigrant dominated apartment neighborhoods, violent problems will be a constant threat to good people.
If you have a choice, stay away from the valley neighborhoods.
Good Luck, moved out from Ohio about a year ago.
