Thank god, the KKK is a dying breed. There aren't as many inbred people as there used to be.

While unspeakably tragic, American's should take heed to how violent, dangerous, and irrational groups like the KKK can be.

Personally, I would like to see laws passed that prohibit the formation of any group whose premise is rooted in hate.

Not all of them. There are some recovering Republicans. I am one of them, but I proudly voted for Obama. I am done with neo-facistists destroying our democracy.

Yeah, she was definately a fool. I can't help wondering if she got what she had coming but I don't agree anyone deserves to be murdered. The KKK is full of scared, ignorant people who use to claim Christianity. How can a true Christian have so much hatred in their hearts? It is a power thing. I am white and very proudly voted for Obama. The are crimes against such behavior, they are called "hate crimes" and the punishment should be more enforced and severe.

True enough. But man, she was REALLY stupid. They don't even LET women come to their meetings! She couldn't have done much research! How in the world did they talk her into it?? She must have had some kind of mental illness or defect or something...

The Christian religion is full of hate and death that has came swiftly from the mouths and hands of many people who accepted Christianity. Pagans,Jews,Slaves, and Indians all slain at the hands of Christianity for Christianity. I just think hate based on a persons culture or race is pretty much pointless. If your going to hate someone hate them for their personality, not their race. As for the KKK I really don't think there too much of a threat, people in sheets with torches and rifles just aren't that commonly seen gallivanting around towns. What would be the biggest concern for both Obama's safety and the general interest of all who aren't hate mongers is the Aryan brotherhood. This hate group is a large one and its members aren't just stupid folks from the hills, not to say people from less civilized locations are ignorant. I myself come from a town of less then 2000 people. What I'm trying to get across is that just bare hate isn't going to get these people anywhere. It's the educated people who hate and spread these ideas that are the biggest concern. I don't agree with them, I don't agree with the hateful things they say, however I would die for the very right for them to speak them.

Clearly she made a bad decision. It's easier to understand it if we look at her possible motivations.
As far as the KKK goes, their existence has flourished far too long. Any KKK activity should be expressly outlawed as should gangs.
We as a society absolutely have to embrace the mindset that we will do what's necessary to curb these serious problems.
When you question how far do we go? Think about what will work for any particular problem. That is how far we need to go. Anything short, for example is another war on drugs. A dismal and expensive failure. Harsh? Yes. Realistic, depends if we ever get serious.

Hmm. How did this turn into a bashing of Republicans and Christians? Sen. Byrd, once a leader in the KKK, is a Democrat. It was the Southern Dems. that voted against the civil rights movement.

Is the public still so blinded by their hate that they falsely blame the Republicans for racism?

Tauneutrino stated: Personally, I would like to see laws passed that prohibit the formation of any group whose premise is rooted in hate.

Let's start with those who hate Christians and Republicans and eliminate all the special interest groups that pave the way for the Democratic Party.
