Nothing is over until we decide it is. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

The Germans did not bomb Pearl Harbor. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbon, December 7, 1941.

Screw was murdered. That man was so sedated and sick that he could not even get up out of the bed by himself--let alone walk down the hall and pry the large, heavy window open and hurl himself out of it. No one investigated his mysterious death--even the police were too afraid to check into it. The mob did not leave in the 1960s after George Ratterman took office. There was PLENTY of mob trouble in Newport in the 1970s. Remember the mob hit on Sammy Eisner? It is not too far fetched to think that mobsters burned the Beverly Hills Supper Club in 1977. They were around. Remember Sammy Schraeder? Red Masterson? Tough guys with big connections.

Perhaps. Why is the Bra$$ A$$ still allowed to operate? Mine Lee's family (the Raleigh's) supposedly were involved with some gangster activity and everyone in city hall is afraid to close her down. After the murder there a couple of weeks ago--employees admitted to serving alcohol and prostitution to customers and SHE HASN'T BEEN SHUT DOWN YET. The fire last year over Joe's sportsbar in Newport? FAulty wiring and no smoke detectors. A liitle girl died. Mina Lee was the landlord and NO CHARGES. Why else is everyone in city hall afraid of her???

Screw grew up in Cincinnati. He lived in Cold Spring when he was in the mob. He may have owned a house in Ft Thomas too, but most of the mobsters with money did. Ratterman lived in Fort Thomas too. Oh yeah--so did most of the businessman who started the Committee of 500.
It took people who lived and worked outside of Newport to clean up the city.

I LIVE in Newport--and love it, warts and all. I was just making a point that outsiders came in to clean the place up. Hell, Newport was happy with the way things were going. Plenty of jobs in casinos, restaurants and clubs and other businesses benefited from the tourists/visitors to the area who were here to gamble. And the city got tax revenue from these places. Newportians were afraid that the city would die if they took away all that Newport had to offer. Newport was also nicknamed "Cincinnati's Playground"--so actually the buckeyes were the ones that shit in OUR yard and then tried to cover it up. I am no outsider, my friend. You make unfounded assumptions and jump to conclusions. But I forgive you.

Hi Debra,
If Sampson and Callie Blaine Eisner were your parents, then yes--I do know a thing or two about them. But surely you do too. I am sorry if people referring to your father's "mob connections" is hurtful. I am also sorry that he was brutally murdered because of these connections. The poor guy was probably just a product of being in the wrong business at the wrong time cuz Newport was a tough town, even in the 1970s. I understand that his murder has never been solved and I understand that your mother passed away not too long ago. You have my condolences.
Best wishes to you Debra.

This quote goes hand and hand with Newport still today...
I have always heard rumors that the bail bondsman Bill Shweinefuss was a suspect (and business partner) of Sammy Eisner. He may have been a suspect, but he was never charged so it remains unsolved. The ky State Police website on cold cases lists Sam Eisner as 'having known ties to the underworld'.
