I saw a stuffed Fisher at the Museum of Natural History in NY. It's face was full of porcupine quills, and the sign said it's the only small mammal that regularly eats porcupines! Also, my sister used to sell fur coats, and fisher fur used to make beautiful coats. Trapped, not raised.:(

Why did it say "Rahm" Germany when I posted? Maybe that's my Provider address. I'm an American living in Duesseldorf. My sister lives in Coventry. I can't seem to get the video -- does anyone know where I can get a link to some text about this story? Thank you! Cyndee Szymkowicz

This is the time of year when they are out and in peoples back yards - especially wooded ones. Keep your pets indoors.

You must NOT have the ability to read. If you were educated in animal studies, you would know that more than just a Fisher could any German Shepherd a new asshole. It ain't a matter of who' bigger!!!!! If you have any doubts, I dare you to pit your dog against a Fisher and post it on YouTube. We'll see who "wins". LOL (If you were to, it would just show how ignorant you really are) Just try a little education.

A fisher cat attacked my 60 pound dog... He has been in the ICU of our local emergency veterinary hospital the last few nights and was finally able to come home today.

This is a dangerous animal .. I realize the above posts are a few years old and making a bit light of the situation, but I promise you that this animal can do Serious harm, and it is best to keep your pets leashed (or if a cat then indoors) and at a safe distance.

I retuned art than artist in Lincoln MA and the artist said a fisher came in thru cat door to the house the fisher couldn't find the cat and went to the basement It jumped a 4' enclosure and grabbed a small dog by the face, it took the dog outside and ate it. The woman called the vets and learned a fisher was in the neighborhood eating pets.
The vet said that the fisher will leave when the pets are gone ,but will be back after people "re-pet"
Also a student of mine sent her 80lb lab to run off the fisher.spot took about 5 seconds of " paw -foo," 72 stitches later the dog left the vets.
Oh, and by the way, fishers canine teeth have a blade edge on the back side very much like a scimitar so that when they thrash their prey unimaginable results happens at lightning speed .
A fiend of mine traps them and they are out in the south shore of Massachusetts in large numbers.
I have personally seen several fisher bodies in the 30 or so pound range
