The use of deadly force just may have been borderline justifiable. The victim was obviously not the highest caliber of what you would want for a neighbor, was troubled for some reason, and put himself in a very dangerous situation as well as others. The real problem is that all 3 of the individuals involved were educated by the exact syam systems and are products of the exact same social engineering. The victim has already met his maker and that situation was resolved, now its only a matter of time before the other 2 involved will have to meet the same maker and resolve it. I hope they all go in peace.

Just wondering, what would you have done differently, from either side? Would you have just sat down like Mahatma Gandhi while some random person wielded a hatchet in your face or, conversely, would you have just sat down when the officer shouted "Drop the weapon!!"? Out of all these possibilites, the last one may have been the most productive from all POV's.

Any other non-social-engineered endings come to mind? I doubt the ax-man had a flower to poke in the end of the gun barrel like they used to do way back in the non-social-engineered '60's...

Hopefully, I would have exercised deadly force correctly. When exercising commands my voice would have been extremely loud, extremely, and I would be taking steps backwards, out of the kill zone from a thrown weapon. The ax wielder was cornered in. If the ax was raised above the wielders shoulder in a throw position, and only then, I also, would have fired 3 rapid rounds, 1.5 seconds or less, center mass. If the ax wielder, just hit with a taser, charged or began a threatening delivery position, I would not have chosen 3 rounds center mass, a kill shot, but a different shot. From my position, I could have hit all 3 with a football.

There was not the volume of noise to attract my attention but the 3 rapid rounds indicated immediately to me that someone had expired.

It is a sad situation for all involved.

Well he's my uncle and he's was mently Ill. I've never seen him hurt a fly lol and we all joked around and called him the gentle giant. He was 6ft 4 and like 300 pounds but he's not a monster but just a man who became mentally Ill over time. He only lived in willimantic for 1 month.
