It is a shame that parents cant keep up with the children they have. I think these young girls should serve time in juvenile courts as they are commiting crimes to. If not the responsibility falls on the parents and they to should be held responsible to.

WOW!! You've heard people say "What has the world become?" But after hearing about something like this you just have to stop and ask yourself again "What has the world become?" That is the question I have in mind today as I sit here responding to a topic of this nature, halfway in disbelief our justice department even entertained something this unfair. So "What has the world become" when parents let computers and cell phones become babysitters and teachers. Are parents to busy in their lives that they don't take the time to check in with their kids? Well according to the law if a kid misses more than five days in one semester of school they can be arrested and face a jail sentence. The charge is improper supervision of a minor by a parent or legal guardian. So the law holds a parent responsible if a child doesn’t attend school but doesn’t hold a parent responsible for a kid’s behavior on websites such as “My Space”? A teenager can lie about their age on a website, post pictures claiming they are 22 when they are really only 15, own names such hoe, slut puppy, naughty naked girl, and many other demeaning but suggestive names about themselves to lure persons of the opposite sex to their page. They are purposely putting bold statements and pictures on their page to bring attention to themselves. They lie about their age to be able to establish the website account and begin stating false information to target the opposite sex. For months at a time these teens sit for long hours chatting with strangers. Where are the parents??? Why haven’t the parents noticed their teen is putting half naked pictures of someone on the internet claiming it’s them? Why haven’t they tracked their history on the computer?? I bet they noticed when the cop showed up on their doorstep and arrested them for their teen missing school. Parents aren’t going to pay attention because they don’t reap any misfortune for what their teen’s actions bring forth to others. If the law would hold parents responsible for activity such as this on the internet the parents would then develop interest. Their teen becomes the victim in the eyes of the law. The person their child has deceived and lied to for months pays for a crime. Their child logs on to their “My Space” again that night and begs for attention from another stranger while the actual “victim” sits in a jail cell. The stranger and his family suffer deeply because of the actions of a parent not paying attention to what their child was doing. The public looks upon this person as a sex offender and it ruins a person’s life to a certain degree. The teen goes on about their life going to proms, ball games, parties, and graduation. The person that was lied to and deceived sits in a cell missing their family, putting what’s left of their career on hold. Continued.....

In August of 2007 two teen girls were missing for around a week. When the police found them they had hung themselves from a tree. Both of these girls had posted comments on their My Space page several times about committing suicide. Their parents never checked the site. They admitted their child would sit in their room for eight hours at a time on the computer. However they had no clue until it was to late. These girls had ask for help on My Space. They hoped their parents would notice and get them help. They didn’t. As I’m sure you have heard recently on your local news channel teens are now “sexting”. This is where they text naked or halfway naked pictures of themselves to other people. Many teen boys have been arrested for receiving pictures of their girlfriends naked. They take their picture and send it to someone on purpose and when the other person is caught with the picture they are arrested. Guess what happens to the teen that took pictures of themselves and sent???? Nothing!!! Many people lives are being ruined due to behavior of teens. The law should hold the parent or the person responsible. Stop sending innocent people to jail. When a fifteen year old commits murder we try them as adults in some cases, when they steal cars they are considered adults, when they vandalize public buildings or cars we hold them responsible. Why shouldn’t they be charged for solicitation of sex? Isn’t that what they are doing when they put half naked pictures of themselves out there and say “Hot babe ready for you”. Why is the innocent party being punished? Shouldn’t parents at least have to ban contact with any internet use for two years or something to that extent? Why not the person they call the victim has to sit behind bars that long. Since when in the United States do we side with the person doing the wrongful act? If someone lies about their age on their taxes, or to gamble online, we find it wrongful…. Why not now? Jamie Powell is innocent and has been dealt a bad hand. In my eyes he is the victim. He has never met anyone in person from the internet. Jamie Powell is described as A person who is tricked, swindled, or taken advantage of: the victim of a cruel hoax. He is the victim. He was the one tricked and taken advantage of. Watch all the forwards you receive through text message. If a teen decides to “sext” someone and they accidentally put in your number instead you may be sitting behind bars! Again “What has the world become?”.
It's rather stunning that in the same age of the Pussycat Dolls, Disney starlets' sexy scandals, Slut-o-ween costumes for kids and preteen push-up bras and thongs, now teens posting pornographic material of themselves online and they are being called are the victim???? |

I seen this girls myspace, she lied on her myspace she stated she was 22 years old. She knew he was not 15. I had talked to the girl myself one day when she called the hospital. She knew he was at work. This young girl has now runt this young mans life. My question to the public is Why is she not in trouble? and i also want to know why the mother is not in trouble. The mother had talked to this young man on several different time asking him to please come get this girl. What kind of parent is that. Anyone that knows Jamie would know he would never hurt anyone. The only reason he toke this pleage barging is because they were trying to give him more time and he thought the young girl might actually win, because he is like everyone else in this world, he knows that nothing will ever happen to this girl because she is a minor. All I WANT TO SAY IS GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF HIS PEOPLE. What goes around comes around. One day this young lady will pay for what she did reguardless weither it is in court or in her life. Jamie is a good person. The mother in this case needs parenting classes and maybe time herself!!!!!!

yes i do feel like the kdqn radio station is got a vindeta as well as the city police they were out for blood and to naiul him to a wall and thats what they did and as far as the kdqn their was 2 other men that was sentenced for sexual indecency to minors but never got the publicity that Jamie Powell got in his one incident

I think that this was a perfect case of guilty until proven innocent. Long before the truth was told, Jamie had already been convicted. Unfortunately, the law that we are to respect and honor, failed us greatly. This can only be classified as a great loss. It is a great loss to a mother, a brother, a sister, a church, and to many friends. He has done the most honorable thing he felt he could do. All I can think is that an innocent man now breathes, eats, dresses, and lives a daily life with drug dealers, murderers, rapists, and the other people we need to protect our society from. Please pray for his strength and endurance to come out on the other side the same caring, responsible, loving, humorous, and intelligent man that he always has been.

Ok if he is soooo innocent why in the hell did he plead guilty?
Because he had a chance of getting in front of a Jury of about twelve people just like Kelly. People who automatically assume if it's any type of sex offense the person is automatically guilty. Just like you. You read a single newspaper article and assume he is dirt. See how easy it is to convince someone of something bad. Isn't it funny how bad news travels faster than good news. It's easy for you to believe the worst. Older people that aren't familiar with texting and myspace don't understand how easy it is to copy and paste differnt pictures claiming they are this person or that person. When the radio station, newspaper, and tv station put only certain details out in a small town people , as you, believe what they hear. They go into the court room as jurors already finding the person guilty. Just as you have. The article says he pled guilty to sexual indecency with child and he didn't. He pled guilty to solicitation of sex. That can be checked out at the Arkasas department of correction website. So check it out. This article that you responded to isn't even correct. The only differnce between you and the other imates are that they got caught breaking the law and other people haven't. You at some point or another in your life have broken the law you just weren't caught so don't act so innocent. Maybe it was taking someone elses prescription when you have a injury or toothache or etc... So don't log on here and act like so outstanding when you don't have details.. |

okay i assume you are this kelly guy. i also bet your one of the nice policeman of the city of dequeen. i do hope you never do anything wrong(cause im assuming you are mr perfect) and get on the bad side of the law then you will know what a deal they can make you also. as you, most people like to believe the worst of some one so why have a jury trial everyone was made aware of him thru the media and police station i figure he had no other choice as i hope one day you can see what can happen. and oh yea the girls profile stated she was 22 years old and from kansas but guess you neglected to see that in the paper work, i think he was treated very unjustly, and when you all stand before the LORD he will also judge you as you have judged this young man, also in GODS eyes yall have murdered this person and yall need to ask forgiveness and stop trying to be almighty and perfect cause no man is perfect but JESUS himself i will keep praying that yall will one day see the injustice you have done because he is atleast paying his dues but if your a cop you can get away with anything and its hid. you have someone that you love dearly and one day hell be there as my friend is and think of him when this happens for GOD will let you eat your words thats whats so great about him he will get vengence for us and we dont have to do a thing and when the time comes think of this moment

ok Curious lets get a few things straight! I simply asked a question? So you can take your little comments and shove them!!! I know people assume JUST AS YOU HAVE!!! Little advice dont get on here if you cant take opinions that differ from yours!
you could have explainned yourself instead og assuming what kind of person I am.
no one assumed it you put it out there and said what you said you accused now take what is due you
No you didn't just ask a simple question. You said if he's sooo innocent.. as in being sarcastic. Let's not play mind games. You know exactly what you meant. You weren't simply saying " Why did he pled guilty if he was innocent" That would have been a simple question. If you think he wasn't railroaded let me ask you this then.. Why were there two diffent men the week before him found guitly by a jury for two counts of sexual indecency with a minor never put on kdqn website nor this website for that matter? Why did one mexican man get six months county time only, and leaves the jail to go to college every day? Shouldn't the punishment for the crime be the same for all? That's not how it goes though. What about the guy that killed someone out on eighty thousand get six months prison and is out? Another person gets two years for this crime? You can't realisticly believe that's justice
