Who posts the local new for the forums? Can't help but notice that Coushatt's news is rarely updated. Surely there's something interesting, or news worthy, going on?

LOL Why post it there Sista? There are plenty of the "local yokels" there that keep the pot stirred. Besides, you, me or elf is probably getting accused of being the reason its either not being posted, or being posted. So go figure. I see that on alot of other threads also. On one certain forum, the "recent" news is still about someone that died in a tragic accident months and months ago. I agree that it needs updating.

Update it with what? Who stole who's boyfriend or some such garbage? Winston the Watcher has arrived and the tone of these forums is about to change. Prepare for the real dirty deeds to be exposed. To satisfy that craving for Coushatta news, I'll give you a piece right now.

Why does the Sheriff of Red River Parish continue to allow an incompetent malcontent to run the parish jail? Joey Wiggins should be locked up there himself for all the things he allows to happen. One example is a trustee named "Duck" who is currently serving about 17 years for hitting a police officer with his car. This violent offender is supposed to be doing time in a state prison camp, but Wiggins pulls the strings to keep him in the parish jail where he has full run of the place and supplies the local inmates with contraband, including narcotics. Mmmmm....I wonder who is profiting finacially from that arrangement? It is time for the FBI to take a look at the operation of the jail.

The point I was making, Winston, is that there's really not much to read or comment on, except who's sleeping with who.

I'd have to say that several people are profitting financially from the arrangement you described. If it's true, then it's definately time for someone to look into the system. Is there someone on the state level who would have to look first, tho, or would that automatically jump to the federal level?

Because the integrity of an investigation could not be guaranteed the federal authorities would mostly likely be the way to go here.

That, I can agree with. Now...the question would be, has anything been reported for them to investigate? They aren't going to decide to look into it on their own, if they don't have some clue what's happening.

Most definitely someone will have to alert the Feds. The best way to do this is by being fully prepared with documentation to support the allegations. Of course, there is also another possible scenario.

The mere threat of involving Federal investigators might be enough to get Wiggins to clean things up, or prompt Sheriff Norman to remove Wiggins from his duties. Trust me, Norman is a politician. If he felt that he was going to take a fall on account of his dirty employee then Wiggins would be gone. And that needs to happen.

I call upon Sheriff Norman to investigate the operation of his jail and to adopt the philosophy that shit rolls downhill. Tell Wiggins that if it gets on me then it will get on you and force him to resign or clean it up.

It's definitely happening. Just look in the back issues of the Coushatta Citizen, you'll see where all but 2 inmates tested positive for drugs. They were all charged with this, but the funny thing is none of the deputies or sheriff's employees were arrested. Some of these people had to be the ones either bringing it in or helping to get it in.

I AM MAN ENOUGH TO POST MY REAL NAME. I HAVE 23 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT. AM I PERFECT? NO, BUT I DO TAKE PRIDE IN MY JOB AND THE DEPUTIES I WORK WITH. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DO MY JOB BETTER COME DO IT FOR A DAY. I WILL BE HAPPY TO SET BACK AND LET YOU DEAL WITH THE STRESS AND PRESSURE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT. IF YOU HAVE EVIDENCE TAKE IT FORWARD TO THE PROPER AUTHORITIES, BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FACTS AND EVIDENCE JUST LIKE WE ARE REQUIRED TO BY LAW NOT JUST HEARSAY ALLEGATIONS. I AM AUDITED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS WITH A PHYSICAL EVALUATION EVERY 3 YEARS AND THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE IS AUDITED ANNUALLY. COME FORWARD AND SAY WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY. YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO YOUR OPINION JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE DOES. THAT IS WHAT ONE THE THINGS WE AND OTHERS FIGHT FOR AS WE SERVE AND PROTECT THE PEOPLE OF RED RIVER PARISH.

Since you came on here and answered the other post, why not answer my question? Why wasn't any sheriffs employees arrested for the drug situation with the prisoners?
And before you tell me not to be chicken and post my name, that is not going to happen, I will not ever post my name. The reason being not because I am afraid of the "authorities" but because I've lived here long enough to know that those closest to me would be the ones to pay the price as a lesson to me to be quiet.

Kudos for such a civil response. Like the other poster, however, I'm curious about the drug situation with the prisoners. It's reasonable to expect that some contraband will make it's way into a jailhouse...but that sounds excessive. Were there that many failed drug test, and if so, why? Were changes implemented to prevent that from happening again?

No offense to you, but every three years doesn't seem like much by way of oversight.

Let me assure you I am not trying to evade you questions but I will not discuss any case or investigation on this medium, however, I am willing to set down with you and try to answer any questions you might have. I responded to the post only because my profession and my prfessionalism was attacked. I am sorry that some people will take a few malociously wriitten words about my job as facts. I have served the people of this parish for just under 23 years. I have arrested many people that made bad decisions and arrested a few people that are just bad. I have served as warden of our jail for the last 5+ years and I still love my job. Not due to the financial advantages I was accused of but because I have the opportunity to help rehabilitate some of the men (sons, brothers and fathers) of families in our parish. There is one catch to rehabilitation and that is that the person has to want make the change, it cannot be done by mistreatment, force or intimidation. Again I invite you to come see me at the Sheriff's Office, let us sit down as grownups and discuss any issue you have wth me as a deputy sheriff or jail warden. If I have a criticism of someone I try not to say something behind their back that I would not say to their face. We all have a right to our opinions but if someone wants to make accusing statements they should come accuse me to my face.

I agree with Look Around, Mr. Wiggins. Why not answer the question of how so many inmates tested positive for drugs?

Also, you did not respond to the presence of a trustee as mentioned who has the free run of the jail and many opportunities to bring in contraband. Would you also care to comment on the fact that prisoners are housed three to a cell which specifically violates State rules calling for so many feet of space per inmate?

I applaud your efforts to come forward here and respond. I doubt you will have many takers however on your offer of coming to the jail to have a discussion. As Look Around stated this would be like walking into the Lion's Den.

I am curious to know, Mr. Wiggins, if indeed these allegations are factual would you be willing to take measures to end the abuses? That is what we, the people of Red River Parish, want to know.

Remember, Mr. Wiggins: Winston is Watching.
