1. One candidate has infinitely more experience in law enforcement than the other
2. One candidate claims to have more youth ( and therefore, more inexperience)
3. One candidate apparently trying to divert attention to #1 & #2 by allowing his supporters to execute a whisper campaign around the parish attempting to smear the other candidate.
4. One candidate is not directly tied to the "who's who of wealthy families in Coushatta"
5. Both are well funded (not a crime)

The voters should recognize what is going on and ignore the whispers. This race should not be a popularity contest, the winner will likely be Sheriff in our parish for many years. The best man for the job is OBVIOUS. Vote against the "clique", or the "in crowd" of Coushatta and put a man who has been a leader in law enforcement.

Whisper campaigners would have the voters focus on the following rumors rather than an actual record of service.
a. One candidate can not have a job while campaigning
b. we all hate State Troopers, therefore One candidate can't be Sheriff
c. One candidate isn't as youthful and energetic as the other, therefore he can't be Sheriff
d. All State Troopers have bad, militaristic attitudes and we can't have that kind of no nonsensical approach in the Sheriff's office.( translate: we need to preserve the "good ole boy" network that works to keep the powerful people in the parish powerful.)

Im still trying to figure out how Adam is claiming to be a "SEASONED VETERAN OF THE SHEFIFF DEPT", when he only has about 2-3 years of expierence, yes, 2-3 years, I would call that still wet behind the ears, much less , SEASONED. Then, Adam claims, to have extensive expierence in law enforcement.I think nearly every deputy sheriff who works there, has more expierence than Adam , But hey, it sure does sound good, doesn't it.
Listen, just because you have a college degree, DOES NOT mean , you have extensive expierence.

I thought that exact same thing when I read that in the paper. Extensive? Not hardly! He has worked there twice and quit twice. Not very good work ethic if you ask me!!

I have always thought of Glen Edwards as a good man until his recent visit to my home. He is focusing on Jones' age to win this campaign and has sunken to smearing and making childish comments. I was actually undecided until then.

Also not to nitpick but "well funded" is a relative term, it's public knowledge that the Jones campaign out-raised Edwards over 3 to 1 on the books. But I do agree with your last, the translation is not in disagreement with the relative levels of funding.

I do think chicanery with the rules and other sleazy tactics being used against Edwards are much more important topics than Jones' age. Thanks for posting about what's going on.

why debate now? if there was going to be a debate, shouldn't it have been before the original election? I think it is meaningless now.

VFJ I personally dont believe a word you said. I
have known Glen for 25 years and have been with him through out this campaign, I know he hasnt
talked that way. As for Adam I have only saw him
twice and both times he was drunk. But you dumb
peple go ahead and vote for Adams and see what our parish comes to in yhe next 4 years.

When making statements on who is better candidate for sheriff it would be more informative if you stated why you believe in your opinion. "Just because I said so" is usually not a reason to vote for someone.

I think I am going to start random threads from here on out about things I think are better than other things.

1. Dogs are better than cats
2. Cheeseburgers are way better than regular burgers
3. Mint chocolate chip is the best ice cream in the whole wide world

I just moved to this town and I've been hearing things about Adam Jones that I don't like already. I hear people say that his family has been running this town for the past 12 years and that he says they should vote for him so it can be kept in the family. Honestly I think there should be new blood running this town because obviously nobody has done anything with it in the past 12 years. People shouldn't be so close minded about new things! Give someone new a chance and see how things go. They may realize they really like it.
