Country Club Hills officials make plans to pay back $6.6M county debt
More cuts may be coming to Country Club Hills' budget, and $2 million in property tax rebates promised to residents might be on hold now that aldermen acknowledge the city owes Cook County about $6.6 million after the county mistakenly paid the city its 2010 property tax money twice.

The city doe not owe 6.6 million. The city borrowed 6.6 million in 2010, paid it back later. Cook County Treasurer paid our city 7.2 million on taxes due us. Cook county Treasurer also paid our bank 6.6 million as repayment of our loan which was already paid by us Chase bank has the extra 6.6 million, NOT Country Club Hills. Our finance committee and alderman need to learn how to read our financial statements. They were unable to find the alleged 6.6 million simply because we never had it in the first place. Alderman Lockett ran for mayor saying we were deep in debt. Not so! Alderman Lockett was seen on an internet video saying the alleged 6.6 million was "...mismanagement of funds..." and had the nerve to blame a County mistake on our mayor.

My family moved into what is now country club hills back in 1957, I watched the city grow from it's incorporation in 1958, Dwight's personal life has been a train wreck yet the taxpayers allow him to be stewards of their money when he couldn't even manage his own money as evident by his declaring bankruptcy.
