I grew up not far from this road and recently made a hike up in to see the lakes again for the first time in 20 years.

Still an impressive wild area after all these years. Thinking of getting a lease up there just to have regular access.

I remember as a youngster there being talks of interesting landmarks up there, the old 'Wire burnings' as the old guys called it, and tales of open mine shafts, equipment hulking in the woods, and all sorts of neat items.

Anyone familiar with any of this? I'd like to really explore.

I go to camp on Scaffold Lick road, it's great up there, seeing the wildlife, and exploring the woods. There is alot to do there, in any season. In the middle of the week it is very peaceful.

My mother grew up in the woods up there and my grandfather mined coal up in there. I spent alot of time up there while growing up, we used to picnic where my mother's 'home' was and listen to all her tales about putting cardboard in her shoes and walking all the way out, getting chased by a bull everyday, to catch the bus to school on the main highway.
