THESE TRUCKERS NEED TO START FOCUSING ON WHAT IS GOING ON IN FRONT OF THEM...AND GET THE REST REQUIRED BEFORE HITTING THE ROAD AGAIN.

I rarely travel that far West, so I'm not familiar with the construction going on in this area. Are there signs well before areas that begin to get backed up warning drivers of the construction zone and possible stopped traffic? If there are, I don't understand how this guy still could not stop in time.

Why don't the troopers sitting before the construction actually do speed checks and have trooper farther down ticket these speeders.Everyone knows that the trooper with his lights flashing is just a warning let's make it mean something.

Who said he was speeding? If that were the case, I am sure we would be reading about more deaths. He probably thought the traffic was moving slowly and not altogether stopped. Not making excuses, but no-one said he was speeding or fell asleep, so it cannot be compared to the previous tragedy.

Here's reality, car drivers drive far worse and cause 100 times more accidents. Truck drivers though get all the publicity.
You are right. And people forget that passenger cars are to blame too. They swerve around trucks when they are in their blind spots and cut back in front of them just to go on their brakes because traffic is slowing down ahead. So people really got themselves far - no they got themselves on their brakes, but now in front of the rig instead of behind. People please think about it before you mess with the trucks out there. They can't stop like we can. I see cars whipping around trucks crossing over two lanes to the ramps just so they can get around the truck. I see people disrespecting truckers all of the time. How about being a pal and blinking your lights so they can get in for a change instead of refusing to move over for them when you know that you can. We are just as bad of drivers as the truckers so think about that before you point fingers just at the rigs.

How can you fall asleep at the wheel and ram into a car and kill its occupants and not be charged with anything!?!
I get the book thrown at me if I go a bit over the speed limit, fines ect.
This makes no sense to me, hopefully someone can clear this up!

NO, a Truck is a COMMERCIAL VEHICLE and they must yield to PERSONAL vehicles. Truck are subject to random stops by Trooper's who check various items on the truck, am I subject to those same checks as a personal driver????... NO. So, truckers need to start driving slower, stay in the right lane, and stop cutting people off. As for the number of cars on the road... DUH, there are many many many more cars then trucks. As for the blame, I know more idiot truck drivers then I know idiot car drivers. I would love to see trains back again and all those truckers out there unemployed... sorry, truck are a drain on society and traffic in general. Most truckers are lazy people who have found an easy job to do, where they get paid too much money for driving a truck. Very easily replaced by a $5 an hour Mexican... who won't fall asleep. Oh yea, I have my CDL, and other special certs, so don't think for a second that I haven't been there and know what I am talking about. There are only 5 truckers that I know who are owner-op take care of their trucks and drive safe. Everyone else doesn't own their truck, could care less if the tires are bald or balanced... lets be honest a group of people who are driving 10000 pound rental cars. We all know how people drive rental cars, they could care less. This all equals bad truck drivers.

Do you really feel the need to categorize all truckers into one lump sum? And you say that trucks need to stop cutting people off - what about all the morons I see on a daily basis weaving through traffic and then cutting in front of trucks - very closely in front of them actually?

I agree with you that the train system should be brought back, however, we all know that drivers would probably have even more road rage if they have to sit by the tracks and wait. But trains would surely limit a lot of traffic on the highways.
