I hated to hear about the passing of Dan Cook, sportswriter for the Express/News and Sports Anchor on Channel 5. He was a South Texas icon, I remember him being paired with Chris Marou and Judd Ashmore ("hug somebody, it'll make you feel good")I guess you really can't ever go back home. I know Judd Ashmore and Ricky Ware had some legal problems in the early 80's, and now Judd is on a radio station somewhere in W. Texas, don't know what ever happened to Chris Marou. And Logan Stewart used to do the news on KTSA radio, back when it was a top 40 hits station, is he still around? I miss S. Texas! Heck, I even remember Cap'n Gus after coming home from grade school (I know he passed away years ago)

The saying "It ain't over til the fat lady sings" is credited to Dan Cook. I ran into him about 15 years ago at a San antonio grocery store. He was a tall man with huge hands. I said hello and shook his hand, very nice guy. Thousands of friends and fans showed up to his viewing. A true Texas legend.

Indeed! I remember growing up in S.A. and seeing the people you mentioned on tv. Rick Lozano was also a familiar face on tv back then.

I wish I could drive back to S.A. sometimes. Living halfway around the globe does have its disadvantages...

Judd Ashmore and Iworked together at WFBM Radio and TV Indianapolis in the late 60s and again at WOAI in the early 70s when I did mid days at the Big 12 music radio WOAI. Judd had a Kayak and we teamed up in a "Crazy Boat,Kayak and Canoe " race in Indianapolis. In a Kayak you are back to back. I found out later he let me do all the work!!
