I agree. And please tell some of your rez buddies to quit urinating and defecating all over our streets, alleys and public facilities. It's wrong and not pleasant.

So let me get this straight. If you put trash in your trash can and take it out to the street anybody can filter through it and take what they want. But, the trash left behind from a few hunderd years ago is called artifacts and has a significant and historic value? Somebody please help me understand this. Also, what do we do with all of these "beautiful" artifacts? Are they displayed for everybody to look at or do we just throw them in some big warehouse which is using all kinds of energy to maintain a climate controlled environment? When does it end?

Many of the artifacts that you call "trash" were not just left behind. Many of these objects were in burials left behind. The real question is when do burials become "artifacts" for all to look at or even to store in warehouses? If Indians began snooping around cemetaries in Alabama would you mind? WHat if Indians began to put said objects on display in their museums? The country would be in an uproar. These objects should just be left alone and the past respected. There is enough land out there to do so.

I can see your point, however some of these "artifacts" are thousands of years old, not hundreds. The decided course of action these days is to just leave it in the ground, undisturbed. However many artifacts are collected, especially from excavations, and yes, they are simply warehoused where nobody learns from them. Although I don't agree with collecting, I also don't agree with warehouseing.

BHP Minerals has been diggin up "artifacts" for a long time. How come the Indians (Natives, Dine, Ancient Ones, Native Pride....etc...) don't complain about that?

Hey, genius those artifacts are taken back by the nations or they risk being fined and escorted from the rez, fined, and lose contracts, if their silly behavior keeps up.

You are talking out yer a**. Is your comment a fact? Are you so sure that Indians do not complain that you post your comment as though it is written on the same stone the 10 commandments are? What you do not know is the following: Federal Land which reservations are considered a part of, when any part of land is tagged for construction, roads, etc the Dept of Interior sends out archeologists to see if there are any ruins or artifacts that may be distrubed. Then they either remove the artifacts or in case of whole ruins go around. I believe this also applies to the Sate of New Mexico when it builds roads. So please know what you are talking about instead of spewing garbage when you have NO CLUE as to what you are posting. If you do not believe me then call the local state DOT.

One other comment to anyone who thinks ancient artifacts are b.s. It is art. Do not be jealous because YOUR ancestors left nothing behind but ruin and destruction where ever they went.

Right there Chief, keep saying that while you get free tuition, free health care and a monthly check. Do not be jealous because YOUR ancestors left nothing but broken beer bottles and DWI fatalities every where. But it is okay, you are a member of a "soveriegn natioon" that is completely and totally dependant on others for every type of care imaginable

Haven't read or heard of a Native American digging up John Wayne's boots.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Sagittarius

Once again, the domestic atmosphere isn't exactly peaceful. Someone is still all worked up, and you may have come out in sympathy by now. Try to discuss things with as much objectivity as you can muster, otherwise, with Mars now retro, the conversation will soon disintegrate into a bad-tempered spat or a slanging match in which you try to catch one another out. It's important to clear the air.
