Typical half-baked unorganized free music event in Sedona, was a HUGE joke! I was embarrassed for these guys. A bunch of no-name bands trying to impress each other and the unbathed hippy freaks who turn up to these type of shows. It's very embarrassing that Sedona can't muster up a real professional outdoor music event! Saturday's show was one mistake after another! Sounds like the band "Decker" just got a bunch of his pot-headed friends together and threw this disaster! Watching folks walk away after hearing this mess and getting rained on just topped it off! Terrible, glad it was free because I would never pay to see crap like this!

We came up and were very disappointed! Your right it seemed very chaotic and not very organized. There were all kinds of technical problems. What a waste of time!

It was amateur hours for sure! Brandon Decker is a small-time musician who tries to pretend like he is a player in the Arizona music scene, and Sedona is a perfect place for people like that to hang out. Wannabee rock stars are a dime a dozen!

Nothing is for FREE but when it's FREE expect to get nothing!

We wound up leaving and heading to the Spirit Room in Jerome for real music and fun.

I just laugh reading this, yes Sedona has always been a laugh for live music. This "Decker" dude is a young kid who thinks he's a rockstar in Sedona - lol!
I walked over to the event and left 5 minutes later. Nothing to see, just a bunch of kids trying to act like they were doing Woodstock!-lol! Do these fools even know what Woodstock was?

Typically I would not respond to such unwarranted venomous words but I'd like to offer clarification to you folks speaking of our event, and my name so freely and negatively.

A) no one said this day was Woodstock. It was merely an attempt to create community and bring a good time, with new music, to Sedona. In that regard it was factually a success. The first attempt at this brought a record breaking, unprecedented day financially and in sheer numbers to the Martini bar and several other businesses. Hundreds of people stayed until 2am despite rain and the technical difficulties. We had a sound company hired that had to cancel last minute due to an emergency surgery for the owner quite unfortunately.
B) I do not know who any you are that claim to know me to or what I think or proclaim. Truthfully, Ive never proclaimed anything, Ive just put my money where my mouth is and lived my passion with courage. You are welcome to look at our track record ( www.deckermusic.org ) musically, it speaks for itself I do believe.

We just returned from a tour that saw a life threatinging car accident and the news of a death of a friend and I do not have any inclination to enter a war of words with people speaking such negative, critical, and uninformed vile anonymously. I will say, you should be ashamed of our cowardice. If you would like to speak In the light with courage I am always available at bdeckermusic@gmail.com

That's all part live music. But it does not change that Sedona sucks.

I went away feeling musically uplifted. It was an amazing day full of amazing music and people. Brandon Decker is a humble, incredibly talented individual who is trying to do something positive for the music scene in Arizona. It's unfortunate that some people feel like they have to hate.

Perhaps if these negative nancies had done away with their preconceptions about what a music festival is supposed to be, stuck around and just tried to enjoy themselves they would have benefited from the beauty of the Oak Creek Festival. I was there the whole day and didn't hear one complaint.

If anything these commenters should just admit that they don't care about non-commercial music, keep their mouths shut, and go home to watch American Idol.

So Brandon Decker, let me get this straight since you are posting in response to these other folks, who by they way, have every right to give their opinion on their experience of your event.
I am sorry to hear about your singer's accident, seriously! However, following the link that directs us to donate money to you so you can finish your album is just in bad taste!
I can understand raising money to help her with medical costs, but to use such a tragedy to raise money for your CD production is pathetic and unethical! Nothing humble about it!
Shame on You Brandon!

I assure you, anonymous Lisa S, no one is more interested in the funding of *our endeavor* than my injured bandmate. Few people are courageous enough to put their lives on the line for anything and subsequently don't understand what seeing things through means. My bandmates most certainly do. Again, I say, anyone who wants to cowardly throw around incomplete, uninformed opinions, offering anonymous critiques of character, and including my name and an event that was not mine, but several people's, with a spirit of negativity and ignorance, and that includes your incorrect assessment of my ethics, please feel free to reach me at my email address and I'll be glad to clear things up for you. End of discussion.

Wow...Jeremy. He is big time! An interview on CNN and everything. How much did Decker pay you to post it? Hahaha loser.

Another Sedona artist, which by the way are dime a dozen in this crazy vortex tourist trap. All you have to do is buy a guitar and bam your all of a sudden an artist.

I listen to the song and it was so bad it smelled! I have heard cats fu@k with better harmony than in this hot mess of a song.

Basically music that has been made a millions times over. So I would say far from being an original or ground breaking.

Every musician that has gigged as experienced technical difficulties and bad weather. Just the great ones don't use it as an excuse.

Also if you are so pathetic you have to ask your 3 fans to spare some change to make this epic CD of yours? Then might be time to find a new career.

These commenters sound like really cool people. Totally hip and informed from the looks of things.
Hey guys, could you please give us some more advice on how to bully independent musicians and local bands and unfortunate circumstances?
I heard another band from Phoenix got robbed and beaten. Please instruct us on exactly how to shit on them and their hapless situations.
Also, if you guys could provide some recommendations about what's cool to listen to I'm sure everyone would really appreciate that.

I bet you do wish you were cool!

Great job coming to the defense of a mediocre performer. The band is rocking its just the douche fronting the band.

I'm betting the band you mentioned from Phx is a way better band than this retard. And didn't blame their sound man or the weather for sucking balls.

Brandon, you know me! I think your music is crap! Getting your friends to post comments in support of you is lame! If you wanna be this big rock star, than you have to learn how to face criticism. People are freely giving their opinion on here so live with it! Your show was awful! I'm 63 years old I got nothing to lie about! I've been a musician long before you were born, so give me a break! Grow up Decker and get your head out of your ass!

Chris Quasula and aging, sad blues guy: want to let you know firsthand: you are correct! And very astute on your part I might add. Decker is indeed a bunch of small time, money grubbing, "douches" and "retards" making excuses for "sucking balls," pretending to be rockstars with our pothead friends while playing our lame original music to young, attractive, interesting people (oh, we wish we actually did that!) who somehow like crap music enough to enable us to not work at the boys and girls club while we bitterly hate on strangers online. We can confirm this much. You win! Decker indeed sucks vastly more than your critically acclaimed, successful music and music critic endeavors. We want to be the first to encourage you in your continued search for a band in obscure chatrooms, playing in rad whiteboy reggae/bad old guy blues bands, posting naked 80s rocker chicks online, anonymously (albeit honorably, purposefully, and inspiringly) attacking strangers, and waiting to die in irrelevant golden years. Say no more, we are adequately convinced we are not good at all and Brandon Decker is certainly the worst of us all. Douchebag tht he is. We will play no more shows. If only no one cared about any of it enough to know who we are or buy any of our records, we could escape this mess of suckdom. pop!!! We have pulled out heads out of our buttocks and are now listening to this musical brilliance:
In addition to Maiden of course.
Let me also say: whatever you say now, we wholeheartedly agree. Again, well said. Decker sucks, especially Brandon Decker. We have a host of Phoenix residents prepared to state as much regarding the loser.
Old blues guy and 80s drummer metal guys who works at the YMCA or whatever: connect online and keep this message going. Do it for the kids. Do it for America. Do it for Jesus (because Jesus hates gays, right Chris?) and decker is definitely gay.
Happy travels and best in your continued efforts at humanity!

And this is the next decker associated event to absolutely not attend:

I assure you, it will NOT include such fine acts as "like Jupiter" and "63 year old washed up blues guy" and it will last 3 days with 75 terrible, talentless pothead bands from all over the west coast. There will probably be quite a few mislead hot Tempe chicks there having fun, but do not be mislead: Gumptionfest 7 sept 14-16 in Sedona (home of dime a dozen wannabes) will not be fun.

Decker totally sucks. Their shows suck. So do their CDs which you should not purchase at any Online retailers' locations.
Did you see how they can't take criticism either? They really should grow up. And suck less.

Pretty pathetic that Brandon has to have all his friends post all these negative comments because his ego was hurt. For readers who are seeing all of this, now you understand the mentality of the local Sedona music scene. If they don't like what you say, just just defame you on a public message board. I agree with Lisa's comment above --- shame on you Brandon! Creating even more negative energy won't earn you any respect. Enjoy begging for money on street corners to make a living because that is as far as your music career will ever go!
