What is the prognosis of re-opening Rt. 89A? My family will be visiting Sedona, Flag, South Rim, etc next week, and we are hoping the road between Flag and Sedona will be re-opened.
I have been following the Slide fire pretty closely online, and it seems as if great progress has been made over the last couple days. From what I have read, no lives or structures have been damaged (thank God). But I can't find any indication of any timetable regarding the re-opening of 89A, Slide Rock S.P., etc. I realize emergency personnel are very hesitant to give timetables, especially with disasters so volatile and unpredictable as wildfires. But I was hoping someone local could give a better "pulse" or "feel" of the situation there. Is it a matter of a couple more days, or weeks, or perhaps closed all summer? As a non-local, I just don't have a feel for it.
