Week after week the same crap.Com e on let's praise Melvin for losin games over and over.He must have read this post I see in the Sunday paper he finally praised some of the kids but still blamed the loss on them just like always.Yes the players need to look up to somebody that teaches them to fail in life he needs to move on o.k. person but sucks as a coach.

Maybe OTIS should be coach,he loves chasing people up and down the street. He would make a good coach, this way he will stay out of walmart parking lot in city police car, when he should indeed have been in his personal car.when not on duty..better to use tax payers gas than his own though...Go OTIS

Yipee another loss at the hands of the greatest coach to ever coach in Cottondale.0-4 Yeah Melvin lovers he is great.Time to step down. It's not just him you have Chris Obert as offensive coord. and Don Holland as Def coord.Get real let's get some coaches in here and forget this b.s.

C'mon Melvin lovers 0-4 wow I have a prediction 0-5 after tonight. What excuse will he have this time? He has gotta go our kids will never attract big schools looking at them if he is coaching he is the laughing stock of NW Florida.Cottondale deserves better.Danny Sims and Jennifer See should be ashamed of themselves for letting this go on year after year.

People need to quit rippin Melvin a new one and come out and support the Hornets...Win or Not, these are OUR kids playing!!!! Instead of bitching and moaning, support your kids and your community! It's a shame when the visiting team brings more fans than the home team has...How do we expect Cottondale to get anything if we don't support them!!!!!!!!!!

I do agree there needs to be changes in the coaching staff...I'm not sure if it is the head coach or the idiots he has around him! The team needs someone to TEACH them the game of football...they have to learn the fundamentals of the game. I really don't see the one's on the side lines with Coach Melvin doing that..A head coach has to surround himself with GOOD assistant coaches...and that he definitely does not have!!!! As for supporting our kids, I go to the football games...nobody, except a few, cheers them on!!!! It's sad...the players need that...they need to know the fan's are behind them...This goes for all sports, from little league to high school!

I agree 100% but I think it is Melvin and all the coaches our kids deserve better this should be a fun time for these kids how can it be if the coaching staff doesn't have a clue and keeps them depressed.I am really surprised that the coaches don't care enough about the kids to resign. It's like they get off on standing on the sideline thinking they are real coaches.Sad Very Sad

i think something has to be done after this season. This is crazy why ruin these kids like this? Come on Principal make the move or theparents will take this to the school board.every other school around would not put up with it and Cottondale will not either.Just remember next time you run for superintendent we will remember everything you have done and not done.

okay Danny this is your clue. You and Kenny Griffin need to get together and make some plans. You lost the last time and Kenny only won by a few votes. The people of this community will not sit back and be silent.

I think you need to bring in a good young coach that can give the program nonstop enthusiasm. I know of two coaches that would fit this team perfectly.

1.Chaz Johns-played college ball at shorter college as a lb. currently an assistant at blountstown. his father was the coach that turned blountstown into a powerhouse from 03-06 on the football field and in the weightroom. he coached one year under his father and one year under blounstown present coach. he ran the jv squad and coached the varsity lines.

2.Corey Silcox-played college ball at troy university and valdosta state as a lb and ss. currently the defensive coordinator at munroe high school in quincy. munroe doesnt have near the athletes that cottondale has yet the team is currently 4-5 with 12 players. not bad for a team that has not won 4 games in nearly 10 years. the defense has forced more turnovers this year than the previous 2 combined.

not only can these two guys transform the football program they can build a weightlifting program like the teams that surround you. this team should consistanly be in the playoffs, yet, they are not.

a few more guys to think of is Greg Jordan of Blountstown who is rumored to be looking, joe striplin of munroe, scott anderson of east gadsden, and wertenburger from graceville.

dont it me alive. there is just no sense in havin a team with this much talent keep wasting years.

Silcox cant be any older than 21-22. he played against cottandale when jeremy dickens was here. and johns is younger than that. melvin ist a bad coach, he just doesnt have the staff of team to support him.

Apparently you're from Blounstown naming the people you have. Get real!! You think Cottondale would be better off with those 2 kids you named off or those other 4 couaches? What a joke. What team did Cottondale lose to this year that they were better than? They lost 2 games that they might have won if half the school didn't have the flu. The rest of the teams were just better this year in football. Chipley was better, Marianna was better, FAMU was better, Jefferson County was better. The one team they had a chance to better was Graceville because they're not very good either, but they still have a few better players. Liberty will probably beat them too.

your right, change wouldnt help. melvin has built a solid program that will continue to get beat because the other team is just better. god forbid a half decent off season program that could at least get these good athletes in the game. doesnt matter who comes in, its the change that needed. im not even putting all the blame on melvin, he does need a qualified staff to compete.

It's not about just this year it's every year Melvin has been here.I agree with previous posters that the talent is there year after year and the kids chances at playing any kind of college football are lost.I do agree that Melvin does not have the staff that is needed but he chooses the losers.Melvin is a family member of good ole Kenny Griffin thats why nothing will change, just remember that next election. We have no weightlifting program comparable to other teams and all you Melvin lovers what about field goals? When was the last time you seen Cdale kick a field goal how stupid!!!!!

Question to all of you putting down the coaching staff at CHS-How many of you are actually parents of these students that their futures have supposedly been ruined because of their inability to have a 'winning season?' And why is it that these kids can't get out of C'dale and make something of themselves without sports? Have you ever heard of academic scholarships? Another question for you- How many of you are volunteering your time to make CHS better or are you the ones I hear at the games hollaring obsence words to the coaches from the stands? And just what are you teaching these kids? I hope you don't think it is to be a responsible citizen of their town. I have never heard as many people tear down others I do when I attend a game. If you don't like it, move your child. Jackson county has an open enrollment plan. Let's see how much playing time your child gets in a bigger pond with bigger and better fish!!!!
Lay off C'dale if you aren't going to be a part of the solution.

I think alot of us are ACTUALLY parents of kids that futures have been ruined.Getting out of Cdale without ssports is not the point many of them can but that doesn't give some lame coach the right to ruin their chances of playing at the next level just so he can keep a job.Yes we have heard of academic scholarships I actually got one!I know several of the parents including myself that volunteer at CHS are the ones upset.vidently you are one of the "Coaches" friends. We should not have to move our children are you kidding me? Why don't you and the "Coach" move, yeah that's a better idea.
