Bluebird, I believe the the Mayor's speeding was not an accident. Cheney's shooting was ruled an accident.

so he says it was an accident, i truly believe if one of us "accidently" shot someone in that same situation, no one would believe it was an accident..

But if often a tremendous amount of money to get away with it... take OJ Simpson, Michael Jackson...

Anyway, I think taking away the money of rich guy really, really hurts him emotionally...

Well I'm like the majority here and I'm not rich. But if the people really want to think that something will happen to him, just look at his response to it. "I'm sure glad I'm not trying to be reelected", how IGNORANT is that? I know that here in So. Cal. if I was doing over a hundred, I would be in jail. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a "slap on the wrist" and the ticket will disappear from the records.
But I also have to admit this...DAMN, I WISH I WAS RICH!!

Charleston, SC -$375 for 103 in a 55 is NOTHING! My sister just today got a speeding ticket for $440 - that's right -$440 for going 40mph in a 30. He wouldn't put the speed she was going on the ticket because he said it was reckless driving and it would cause 4 points to go on her record. It's not reckless driving in this state until you go over 25mph over. Not only that, reckless driving is 6 points. Police officers are liars who think everyone they pull over is ignorant of the law!

It is pitiful that a small town with the negative image of being a speed trap is led by it's fearless mayor...going 103 miles an hour. Oh! Wait a minute, he also received another "reminder" not to speed when he was on his way to head up a council meeting at Cottageville Town Hall recently. There recently surfaced a recording of the mayor and chief of police of Cottageville berating a Cottageville police officer for not writing enough tickets. When the officer asked if he should ticket Mayor Reeves the next time he was speeding through town the chief advised him not to do that.(Y'all be sweet now, you know he's a BUSY man.) I wish that excuse had worked when I got my speeding tickets! "But officer, don't you know I'm overextended and have to hurry to get to where I'm going!" Thanks Mayor Reeves for being so concerned about the safety of the citizens of Colleton County and keeping all those OTHER speeders paying their due. When are you going to pay yours?

I believe this ticket was executed in good faith and totally deserved. 105 mph in a 55 mph zone. The police officer was very brave and fair in writing it. Took a lot of "you know what". Now..the 440.00 for going 40 mph in a 30mph zone is a bit much. I try to watch my speed, but my car does not have cruise control. Sometimes it difficult to keep it on the mark. She should ask the judge for a smaller fee, at least try. Way too outrageous for 10 miles over. But the mayor.....wow!
