It's parents' responsibility

I am totally disgusted with the fact that we are giving grants to teach children how to be kind .

Tim. How is it that you, a man, can claim to speak for me, a woman?

Look around, do you really think the leaders of this country or the heads of successful corporations today got there by being kind? This is just another example of starting early to teach our children to be sheep. We need people with drive and backbone to survive the coming times. Not more people to sit around waiting to be told what to do in the guise of being kind! Dumbing down of America is real, people, and we are sitting by watching it happen. Worse yet, we are letting them spend our tax dollars to accomplish it.

Tim, After reading your letter, it struck me as very interesting that you did not even mention the word abortion but skirted around it. Does it also bother you?

Buttomfly, what is today being touted as kindness used to be called "simple decency". This is not to be confused with passivity or weakness, or becoming a sheep.

And, Jeanne Schweitz, we may already be too late. There are parents out there right now who would literally knock you to the ground if you stood in front of them and insisted that it is their job to teach kindness to their children.

“Are you serious?”

Tim, what arrogance. You assume all women are pro-abortion. Not so.

I think "kindness" was a missnomer. How about "manners"? Then maybe the kids could be role models for their parents!

Tim's letter is a fine example of saying a lot of words without actually telling us anything. Platitudes, platitudes, nothing but platitudes.

At some point we need to just accept the fact that what is wrong with children, especialy the 1/2 of the poulation that is male, is that to many familes do not have parents..........They have PARENT.
And yes, Family Court (divorce) generaly assures that the PARENT is Mom.

Think about the culture...."Dead Beat Dad" is a commonly accepted term for the parent that has financial responsibility and no say in the raising of the child he supports.

He is simply a "Cash Box" for Mom and the kids...and if he is in arrears.....Mom doesnt generaly refer to the Male Childs' role model with the most supportive of terms.
This isnt intended to get the Womyn going on the "Ya well let me tell you", it is to lament the fact that selfish people are raising selfish children.

The girl child learns that men...Like Dad, are scuombags, and it influences her for life.
The boy child learns that he is a "Cash Box" and that he, like Dad is a scuombag.

Why are children so dysfunctional?

This falls right onto the Laws created by Politicians, such as NO-FAULT-DIVORCE, which gives one party to the marriage, an easy out, and financial suport to maintain the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed.

Think it is bad now? Look to the black experience to see how our whole country will be in a generation or two.

Black women do not marry black men, white women despise white men.

The black male victim relates more to the white female victim and vise-versa.

The last statement is brilliant. Thanks all those who romance the culture of victim hood. Maybe you ought to quit thinkning about the NAZI's and the holocaust political pc elite, and try to change these trends.

Tim mentioning that McCain has voted against women's issues 125 out of 130 times does not say much, and appears to be a poor attempt to be misleading. What exactly were the issues that were being voted on?
McCain was most likely voting in line with his conservative values, rather than against women. Readers don't have to be rocket scientists to see through Tim's letter and dismiss it as obviously biased, whether they are McCain supporters or not.

'black male victim relating to the white female victim', real manly of you black guys. White chicks who read these posts, is it true, has the world of resposibilities, family life, Christian values, thinking of the future, a father in the house, was that all so horrible? It must be, but life with Tyrone gangbanging, and going to prison to visit him on visiting days is so much better. Better go out to mail box and pick up that welfare check.

Actually, this has nothing to do with teaching our children to be kind. Like so many remediation and special education courses, this is just another jobs program designed to expand school district budgets to add teachers. You'e 100% correct about the dumbing down of our children. The glass is half-empty when scores would be compared to un-normalized tests (re-written to adjust for the dumbing down process). The State of MN re-norms their MCA's every 6 years to hide the failure of our schools. That's why you see periodic increases in success when the previous year the same categories were lower. It's a con game to convince the taxpayer that they need more money and are doing the best they can...HA!

With the amount we POUR into education, our kids should be the top in the world, not literally on the bottom. Thank Education MN and the DFL legislators for the palatial buildings and failed academics. Education MN is the State's largest lobbiest to our legislature and the DFL is the recipient for refusing to hold the schools/teachers accountable and a never-ending flow of increased funding. It is truly pathetic that we actually put up with this!

GOOD CATCH on the lack of explanation by the 'vested' article's writer. Of course he isn't going to tell you that over the decades McCain has been in Congress he's voted repeatedly to protect the taxpayers' interests and also knows that using public funds for unConstitutional funding of 'anything' is wrong. Of course the writer didn't explain as it's not in his best financial interest and/or is morally void as a human being.

Actually, Consistent has an excellent series of accurate observations. The only way to 'fix' the problem is to categorically eliminate welfare. I'm sure to some this seems rash, but before government became the re-distributor of legally stolen personal property (read Article 13, U.S. Constitution), churches and communities typically took care of their own, helped them get on their feet and then held them accountable as they became a stable and viable member of the community. Put fault back into the marriage. Hold both parties accountable, but the one who violates the marriage 'contract' should lose big. Get taxpayer undergirding out of the picture and people will have to make their lives and relationships work. Hunger and homelessness can be powerful motivators while protecting the rights of taxpayers.

unfortunately, in my experience, it will never work that way...we have fallible humans judging in divorces. being female, when i divorced i wanted only enough to get on my feet so i could take care of myself...in my boyfriend's divorce, his wife TRULY raped him...she is responsible for nothing and is not required to get a job, tho she is 44 years old and certainly capable...except for being on minnesota care for insurance, the "lucky"taxpayers are free from the burden that is she....not so lucky, is her ex-husband...the white male is the true victim..the most discriminated against...what chance does he have?? except for earning power...(i realize this is a broad generality...but does hold true in some cases)

There is no "Article 13" in the US Constitution. What part did you mean?

Tim Stanley trots out a few euphemisms from his Big Lexicon of Abortion-Avoiding Language.

What he, of course, omits is Obama's record as the most pro-abortion presidential candidate ever. Obama voted against and stonewalled the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which defined legal personhood. This definition was identical to the federal BAIPA which was drafted from the definition of "live birth" created by the World Health Organization in 1950 and adopted by the United Nations in 1955.

As committee chairman of the Health & Human Services Committee, Obama held the Born Alive Act from even being voted on in committee. On March 13, 2003, Obama stopped a senate sponsor from adding a clarification paragraph from the federal BAIPA, to make the Illinois bill identical to the one that passed the U. S. Senate and House. A year after Obama left the Illinois senate, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act passed.

Tim's probably busy right now doing damage control in South Dakota, where Planned Parenthood suffered an ignominious defeat. Here are the details:

"Monday was the first day that Planned Parenthood, which operates the only abortion business in South Dakota, had to comply with a new state law telling women the truth about abortion. Rather than tell women abortion kills children and has numerous risks, Planned Parenthood closed its doors.

"The state law, which the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld last week, required abortion practitioners to inform every woman that she is terminating the life of a human being.

"It requires giving her information about the mental health complications such as a high risk of depression and suicide and physical problems like hemorrhage infection, premature births of subsequent pregnancies, and infertility.

"The woman considering the abortion receives a chance to sign in writing that she received the information and abortion practitioners who don't comply face losing their medical license, two years in prison and a possible medical malpractice lawsuit.

"Whether the closing is temporary or permanent remains to be seen.

"Dr. Allen Unruh, a leading pro-life advocate who works with Alpha Pregnancy Center, told LifeNews.com that Monday was a historic day.

"Time will tell if Planned Parenthood plans to re-open it’s doors, but as for now, the regular abortions were canceled today as the abortionist refused to show up," he explained.

"We will see if any other abortionists plan to take the risks involved with full disclosure of what they do to women and their unborn children," he added.

"South Dakota Attorney General Larry Long said last week the law would go into effect on Saturday following a decision earlier this month by a federal appeals court saying it's constitutional.

"The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the statute and, then, on Thursday, Planned Parenthood’s application to enjoin the statute following the appeals court decision failed.

"The measure specifically tells them to tell women "the abortion will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being," defined as a human being.

"It also requires that the abortion practitioner give women the contact information of a local pregnancy center, as well other information about her health risks and pregnancy support available.

"The federal appeals court cited the portion of the Supreme Court's recent Gonzales v. Carhart decision on partial-birth abortion referring to the post-abortion problems women experience.

"The court indicated "some women come to regret their choice to abort the infant life they once created and sustained. Severe depression and loss of esteem can follow.”

Notice how the media recently ran stories on the suicide rates of soldiers coming back from Iraq? How come they never do these same studies on women who've had abortions and then run them on the major news outlets?

Couldn't be bias in the media could it?

Couldn't be anything else *but*.

Pro-lifers have been the target of blatant media bias since Day 1, when the media decided they'd bestow upon only the pro-choice movement the name by which it refers to itself. Pro-lifers? "Take a seat at the back of the bus," the media said. "We'll call you anything but the name you use for yourself."
