Do you really think the Bible has not changed in 5,000 years? The Bible has not even been around for 5,000 years and there are many, many versions of it. Open your own Bible and tell me which version you use and then you or I can look up when THAT version of the Bible came into being. Are you reading the Bible in Aramaic or in Greek? If not, your version of the Bible is much newer than you think. If you are a Protestant, your version of the Bible is less than 500 years old.

You clearly don't have any room in your heart for Muslims, what do you think of other non-Christians? Should Jews be treated differently in this country than Christians? How about Christians who have different views from your own? Which Christian faith do you adhere to and why? What do you think of people who interpret the Bible differently from you? What should happen to them?

Thank you once again! I appreciate your passion for politics and political issues but also your independence of thought and ability to agree with people on various issues (including me) one one day even though you might fight fiercely with them on another day. I think you are more issue-driven than many posters here; rather than being tied down to always defending a particular political party or recognized political philosophy, you know where you stand on the issues and argue from there. Great!

As to my style: I had the good fortune of reading many Chico ER Topix threads and comments for several months before I ever participated in my first thread several years ago. I saw how brutally people treated each other and how this not only hurt the "public space" of the forum, but also how this really distracted from legitimate political debates. I decided before I ever made my first comment that I would never call anyone a name or behave in a way that distracted from the issues at hand, if I could possibly avoid it (and I have been largely successful, if I do say so myself!).

I long ago tired of "normal" left-right debates which too often degenerated into name-calling and the regurgitation of tired rhetoric and decided that I would not engage in that in these threads. I am genuinely interested in what people think, even people with whom I disagree politically, and I try as hard as I can to get them to delve deeper into their ideas and to be as clear as possible in explaining them. I want to know what they think and why they think it, with as few obfuscations, distractions, and diversions as possible.

I do not think that I am necessarily better than the people who use tough language here (I mutter plenty of things under my breath and shout at the TV as much as anyone), but I do think I encourage more civil and productive conversations than a lot of people here. Even if I really disagree with what someone has written, I try not to let myself get distracted by my emotions and try to focus my comment on their core argument. Again, I don't do this because I am better or think I am better than others, but because I think it leads to better- more civil and more fruitful- conversations.

Thank you again for your kind words. Be well.

Thank you......Again.....I consider you a real patriot even thou we don't always agree.....
I was just as mad at Bush for going into Iraq as I am at oslama in the three wars he has going.....

It is not conservative or liberal but right and wrong......

I have never reverted to name calling to anyone that did not start out calling me names.....
If it is good for bruce it is good for the goose.....

Correct........It is not that I hate liberals..........I am very liberal on may things as you just read....

But when a person like grumpy posted post that Bush allowed 911 to happen so he could invade Iraq and then ignore when oslama start more wars than Bush well that is moronic....

They cry about when bush gave money to the fat cats but praise the economy slayer when he does the same.....

I named the economy slayer that when in 1994 he sued Citibank to force them to give out loans to people that could not pay the normal payment so the banks had to come up with all of the sub prime loans with a interest only payment in a ARM........

I named obama Bush with a paint job when he was battling Clinton and It had nothing to do with color but I knew he would do the same as Bush.....

But I had many pet names for Bush as well and when Bush was in office the liberals here loved me as he was the one in charge so he got the brunt of my focus....

The sad part is that the world is laughing at the USA today......
Mexico laughs at the USA in regards to illegal invaders..
They laugh at the Mexican trucks driving in the USA but no USA trucks are allowed here...

Sad sad day.....
Be well my friend..
