As a citizen of Long Beach, I support our gay pride activities, and as a retired military man I support our armed forces.

Joseph Lee's letter addresses a dissimilar situation to fit into the mentally ill drop-in center that is in the pipeline. I wish we had a scenario where the National Guard would watch over the homeless, but that will not be happening.

Instead, what has been proposed will be almost 100 homeless people a day being dropped off to receive medical care for mental illness. Whether they return to their possessions at the end of the day is a BIG question.

What if the police station does not get built (maybe,for years) before the mentally ill homeless center gets functioning? No one has said anything about what security the private corporation that has the treatment contract, will provide for their patients.

The problem of homelessness and mentally ill homeless is being addressed piecemeal instead coming up with a sensible and innovative solution. This is a national disaster and needs a national solution. It requires a scientific and creative way to end the misery people suffer when they have a mental illness. Instead, we have politicians patting themselves on the back, thinking they are such do-gooders when really their thinking is unimaginative and without foresight.

Re Mr Williams comments on respect and pride for our military etc., Since the entire state top to bottom has gone to the far left liberal socialist agenda concerning politics, only whacked out BS is EVER permitted or pursued.

Could you see ANYONE approaching the LB city council and asking for a MILITARY PRO AMERICA PRIDE day parade permit? In the gerrymandered districts of people we have no days this is NOT possible! Every school district, PTA, ALL city governments, and every county official elected or not, is TOP to BOTTOM hard line liberal. Independent conservative ideas or agendas are NEVER discussed or even registered on the radar scope. Then all schools and universities are FULL top to bottom with far left teachers and professors who CONSTANTLY brain wash kids telling them HOW bad our system is and how bad the elected officials are and treating the citizens! NOTHING is ever told to them to develop love or pride!(See Michelle Obama for that one!) What a wonderful example of mindless arrogant elitism! And she wants to be first lady!

Patriotic displays of American Pride are ridiculed and downplayed as being not very PC these days! Kinda like Osama Hussein Obama-Nation saying he doesn't like to wear a flag lapel pin because he is a globalist etc.

Just what we need! An appeaser and brainless twit with a head filled with rhetoric and filth from downloaded via his minister from the sixties!
