To Koon Hunter and FloridaGirl,
Both of u are correct in a way, We are a native flordian couple who are moving out of fl cause of northerns who have come w/I the last 15 years, we are in our 30s w/ a five year old, the schools here have gotten worse, and crime is on the rise We would love to move to cocke county. We hate subdivisions but are country outdoor We love to fish, hike, mountain bike, water, mountains, etc. We are looking to move there to have a better small time life for our son. We are not fat floridians they aresome of the northerners, I would not want you to cut down a single tree,or build a new house. You have nice older rustic country homes available for sale.

We have been looking around Lake Douglas and it is the most beautiful lake. Looking for about 5 acres on or near the water? Log home preferred? Please let us know if you know of any place.

A most beautiful lake? Please. It is a fucking mud hole most of the year. It is not even a real lake. It is a river that get's dammed up part of the year. So much trash on the banks and the water is brown, not clean and blue. Have you ever tried to swim in this 'beautiful' lake? It smells and is full of catfish & nasty carp.

Wow, how time goes by so fast. Did you think I forgot about you? What kind stuff you going to bring for the local pillbillies to, um, borrow? Since your first post McGaha Chapel Road has turned into a little slice of Florida. You should love it now as it's just like where you are moving from. Full of Floridiots. Yea, full of Floridiots in subdivisions that live behind locked doors and peer out at the mountains through tiny peep holes hoping no one see's them. Floridiots surrounded by locals who think they are ass holes & outsiders. Floridiots who drive at 80 mph up & down the road all hours of the night. Full of Floridiots who ride your ass because you are driving so slow. Floridiots who give you the finger because you are on your tractor keeping them from catching the start of American Idol. Yea, you should love it now, at least till the local pillbilly figures out your daily schedule. Of all places in America, you chose McGaha Chapel road. OMG you are so stupid!

Looking for teaching job and my husband looking for something in warehouse work do you know of any
there are not jobs by the plenty in cosby. most people have to drive to gatlinburg, morristown, or knoxville.
How long is the drive to Gatlinburg? 15 minutes?

I've never been to the area, but am thinking about working in Gatlinburg and noticed an ad on Craigslist for "Cold Creek Rentals" -$140 a week for a room.

Any tips on other places to rent by the month/week?

Thanks.

We decided on a beatiful log beam cabin on a few acres of Douglas lakefront near Chestnut hill area. Close to everything and not far from Knoxville either. Great area and views of mountains.

I see a lot of comments on here but none from anyone that actually LIVE in Cosby.
I have lived here many years, here is the scoop:

1. Don't move here if you are looking for a job. There aren't any unless you want to do menial jobs at tourist attractions. The big tourist attractions have exploited the people of the area and most are working poor or unemployed.
2. Like everywhere there are good and bad people
3. there is an epidemic of precscription drug abuse here. That's right I said epidemic not just a problem.
4. Yes there can be minor flooding in low lying areas, but there are plenty of high elevations to live at.
5. Generally speaking the locals do not care for outsiders but thats o.k. There are plenty of outsiders to make friends with. lol
6. There are very few building codes and even less enforced. Don't rely on recommendations either, this area operates on the buddy system. Do your homework.

Paul,

Gatlinburg 20-30 min
Morristown 40-60 min
Knoxville 1 hour plus

These are estimates from Cosby. The cost of rent here varies considerably. It all depends on your standard of living.
Dump 200-300 month + utilities that would probably kill you considering the shape of these rentals. If they were anywhere else they would probably be condemned.
Average 400-700 month plus utilities. Mobile homes and small houses.
Above average 700-900 plus utilities
Upscale 900 and up

Like everywhere else there are good landlords and bad slumlords. You just have to check them out and decide what suits your needs.

You really should rethink moving here nothing but white trash and drugs and a bunch of dumbasses and the school systems please do yourself a favor and move anywhere but here. Also if you want a job here you don't belong over 80% of the people here are on welfare and getting free stuff so they don't need to work cause they make to much money, food, phones, gas beer all on the working man bill and running the system to hell
