It's not surprising nor should not be ignored! Planet earth comes with it's own surprise, but nature have a way to react to the planets warming.
Long story short; The insect kingdom is on the raise again. Just spent a little more time outside and look around!

Nah, bug are always there killings and making stuff sick. Why would these have such a big effect on dinosaurs? Is there any evidence that shows us that as the dissease carrying insects became more common the dinosaurs became less common? Not as far as I know. So simply cause there are some dangerous bugs around doesn't mean they have had a big impact on dinosaur existence.

Who is to say that they weren't immune to these disease carrying little devils. By the way what happened to the bugs? Are they extinct also?

I agree with predator x. And WHY wouldn't diseases have effect on neornithes, lissamphibians, testudines, squamates, choristoderes, crocodilians and mammals? Huh?

Exactly. There are always dangerous bugs around. That's part of the ecosystem. There are now also dangerous bugs and snakes around. Does that mean they will cause the extinction of extant species? Don't think so.

i agree predator xb there were probably hundreds of billions of dinosaurus so how could a bug kill them all?And like big al said there were many other animals that didn't die out.

Even though on the surface, it isn't the most obvious to why. As Dall said it shouldn't be ignored.
Also, for a disease to spread you don't need millions of insects. A few can cause a pandemic. And due to there being extreme volcanic activity the most vulnerable would've been already threatened so their immune system would've been weaker
I'm sure there's a tv program considering the disease aspect with the other theories, of course.

I hope you are kidding Louie.

Joe, there are now also bugs who can spread a disease. Right? Those can also spread. Right? But they don't whipe out an entire species!!! Let alone nearly half of the existing ecosystem! Why would diseased be a bigger problem to animals back then then they are now? Alright, volcanoes. SO WHAT? There were billions of dinosaurs. To much for some bugs do kill. Bug don't kill entire species now, so they wont have done it back then. Diseases are part of the ecosystem. Diseases being there does not mean everything around it dies. And eventually the disease will stop spreading and some dinosaurs become imune.

I agree with Predator X,spino vs Rex XL and Big Al
Also if bugs can kill all, diseases can't spread through long distant,if the dinosaurs that lived in plains died disease can't spread to the desert dinosaur,so even if T-Rexes and Triceratops were killed,Velociraptors in the desert of Mongolia can't be,even if there're species that live in the place between, each are adapted to there habitats so nothing can make them leave there place
