I remember sitting at the drug store counter and spinning around on the stools until I was dizzy! My mom would be preoccupied with filling a presciption that Dr Claiol had written. 1964 or 1965. I miss those days a simplicity....Hillcrest Elementary, Oakside Elementary... I miss Peekskill being the All American City...

So sorry to hear that about Peekskill. Just goes to show you, like many other small towns in America "we" are not immune to the crumbling economy,loss of GM in Tarry Town,Readers Digest and now cuts at IBM. It's sad. However, I am fortunate to have such fond and wonderful memories to reflect on during these most troubling times.

Greetings "Peekinites" !
My mother has a trunk of photos from the 50s,60s and 70s. I am hoping there are some of how nice Peekskill,Mt Kisco ( we lived there in the late 60s)and White Plains looked back when I was a child. I remember how excited my sister and brother were to spend the day at Playland. It was sooo Hugh to us! Will let you guys know how my search goes!

I remember the elevator and the operator in Genung's. I really miss Peekskill, the Fourth of July Parades and the fire works... think I need to move back down.......trust me, upstate NY is not really any fun.....too much inbreeding!

I get down to Peekskill on occasion to visit my parents graves, and yes, it's certainly different, but it's still Peekskill. I've often thought that if conditions were right, I'd come back and finish my life there.
