I still remember those lottery signs that "saved education". Why is Florida like 49 in funding education and behind the District of Columbia in high school drop out rates?Last time i checked D.C. Public schools were 99% minority .Congrats to the state of florida for finishing last.

Are we for sale? Do we just sell out for money because it's a tough budget year?"
That's exactly what the story is. Crist was, is and always will be for sale, with us as the losers, as always.

I thought the Seminole Casino is sovereign land and cannot be ruled by the House or the Senate? I thought the only branch to say what they can and can't do is the Department of Interior.

Here's the deal. Allow the tribes to offer everything EXCEPT cards/poker and craps. Let the racinos have only cards/poker, craps, live racing AND off track betting on horses only. Charge the tribe a $500 million dollar a year in taxes going up 3% a year for 10 years and renegotiate in year 9 for another 10 years. The tracks will pay a flat 30% tax on everything. That should bring in about $800 million in tax dollars. Now get'er done.

No, no, no, no. These idiots couldn't handle money falling from the sky during the housing boom and property taxes through the roof. What are they going to do with this money? Spend it like drunken sailors again? Those opposed need to stick to their guns. Getting "front money" from the gambling-crazed Indians while selling the para-mutuals down the river and giving them the keys to the gambling kingdom isn't the answer.

Unbelieveable! Eventually the feds will step in and the Sem Tribe will get what they want and Florida will get nothing! Christ was right in taking the first deal.

This is insane, gambling only leads to other problems. Look at the craigslist killer, robbing and murdering call girls to cover his gambling debts. GAMBLING IS BAD. The state should cut spending.

Jeb Bush stood for 2 things, no gambling and no oil drilling. Charlie Christ destroyed Jeb's legacy. We need to stop this guy.

No, this is incorrect b/c the state constitution specifically bans level 2 and 3 gambling. Any seminole gambling has to be approved by the state. That said, the reason for the exception is b/c the reservations are governed by the fed which has no gambling laws.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aquarius

The more you want to control someone, or someone wants to control you, the more difficult life will be today. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so the last thing you should do now is to act as though you own this person, or tell them what to do, because it will be an instant recipe for rebellion and trouble. Mars is retro in your house of significant others and open enemies after all. If you don't want to spoil the evening's celebrations you'll have to make compromises, and hope that this other person will do the same. Don't let the fuss stop you having a very happy New Year's Eve.
