Great piece. I wish I had been around in the earlier days of Cortez. I have, though, spent much of my twenty six years watching it change further. I still enjoy, much like I did as a kid, standing by one of the historical photographs on Main, looking down the street with imagination-eyes, and seeing what it must have been like when my grandparents attended high-school in what is now the county courthouse. My son is nearly six, and I can't wait to pass on my own stories of what Cortez "used-to-be" like.
