What an incredible tragedy. My thoughts go out to his wife and any surviving family members. What circumstances could make him think this was the only resolution? Such a sad story.

This is very sad! This unfortunate man clearly thought this through very thoroughly. I'm sorry he wasn't able to get help before he got to this point.

Pretty clear to me why he did this. He didn't want to die under Obama's health care plan because if this health care is passed, anyone over 65 will get no help if they get sick. Read the fine print in the bill. Socialist health care always writes off the old. Trust me, I saw it in Canada and when I lived in Ireland.

Call your congressman if you want to stop this. Also remember if your company pays for most of your healthcare, under Obama's plan YOU will pay $3-6k a year.

Wow--your are challenged. You need to do some
homework, any homework. Obama's bill might
tax couples making over 1 million a year(I really doubt you will have to contribute), will
eliminate redundant tests, create a little
competition for private insurance companies. This
is one of the most important bills of this century.

Poor man. Another military Veteran presumably not receiving the care they needed; therefore, saw no other way out. It's sad we don't take better care of our brave Veterans - whether it be the case here (which I'm sure it was), or the known fact around the country concerning most of our vets not getting adequate care. Of course Obama will continue to do nothing about it either. He's naturally going to favor illegal aliens and their medical needs over our servicemen. My heart goes out to his family...

why are so many of you so incredibly ignorant and uneducated?
anyway, great way to cut health care costs.
by the way, 400,000 AMERICANS! EVERY YEAR! DIE FROM SMOKING AND SMOKING RELATED ILLNESSES!
it's obviously ok to kill yourself that way... and no one seems to care.
moral of the story... killing yourself is not illegal... and actually saves a lot of money.
