These fools make me so mad. They are trying to find out…
How many applications for private clubs they have denied in downtown?
If these fools wouldn’t be in power we would have a “Comedy club” and several new bars in downtown.
They deny the locals the permits but allow the outsiders to operate as they please.
Do you want the solution you fools?
Stay away, don’t get involved!

How many bars do we need in town? If there are that many people to fill up downtown with bars, how come no one has built one somewhere else in town?

There have been more than 3 applications that have been denied that’s why they are not being opened. Get informed first before you make your assessments…

The city officials have posted here in TOPIX their vision of downtown. They want retail, shoes, clothes, whatever stupid ideas they have. I wonder who is going to compete against the big Corporations, who is going to invest 100k in inventory that no one is going to buy.
I have friends that are investors and would put their money but not with these Neanderthals running the town. They have many regulations, they are religious fanatics and close minded people.
They are afraid of them.

If someone wants to open a buisiness downtown LET them. The crowds will let you know how many they need. Not the goofs that cant poor pi-- out of their boots.

I totally agree with you. They have denied several applications for bars and private clubs in the downtown area. Then they say they want to find out what people want. They prefer to have these properties boarded up and no one wants to in vest in that area. If you buy in that area you are force to open and office, a church or retail. The reality is that no one is going to invest money in inventories with these difficult times and people will continue to buy with the big retailers that offer better prices and more variety.

They should allow these people to open their businesses and let the public decide if they support them or not. The sad part is that these applicants are local people and they have been attacking them constantly (finding any excuse to put them out of business). They extended the hours and changed regulations for Applebee’s. They are totally anti-small business.
Who is going to invest in downtown?
Who is going to fix the downtown properties if they can’t make money with them?

As far as I really care they can fill downtown with "bars" if they want. The citizens of Corsicana have never voted in open bars only, they have voted in restaurant liquor (which we have two of downtown and at least seven others in town that the TABC have licensed) and the allowing of Private clubs (which have been denied downtown & at least three of in town). The answer to your problem is to start a petition drive to call for a election (vote) on having open bars any where in town. If it is passes, there will not be a need for private club permits. The citizens will decide what they want, I will even sign your petition.

Quit trying to fool us, JGK. We are not stupid and all of us know you're one of "them". ;) I, too wonder how many bars, private clubs or whatever our little town could support. I do think it's idiotic that we only have drinking in RR's since, as MW's pointed out in the past, bars could be restricted to drinkers who are of age, hence keeping kids from getting drinks bought for them. I am satisfied with what we have already since I prefer to drink at home and not drive but would be frustrated if I wanted to open a bar here. And MW, you should get a petition going. I couldn't technically sign it but I'd be there w/ ya in spirit! Or, I could sign it and fudge my address.

There are ways to make changes, if you don't want to do the work -- the change will not happen.

Gripe all you want, but if you don't like that P & Z does not approve private clubs where you want them, then you have to vote to change the state law that the city operates under. Then a bar can operate like any business and not need a special permit. The state license will be all that is required.

Take it to the voters where majority rules. That is the last I have to say about it, cause the only vote I have is at the ballot box (actually its not a box any more, its a touch screen computer :-).

The problem we have is the selective enforcement. Some people is allowed to open bars but some other people is denied.

http://corsicanadailysun.com/local/x212383929...

This permit was approved while the other ones were denied.
Why?

I can only guess -- location.

If you do away with the need for a private club, then there will not be a need for a private club permit.

Is that the best answer you have for those investors.“I guess is the location”, these people pay property taxes while the government parasites, sorry, employees, keep demanding more raises. These property owners can not operate or sell their properties in that area and have to pay their taxes every year. The investors in the private sector are losing revenues and profits. People are losing jobs and their homes and all of you have the indecency to ask for raises every year. What is wrong with you people?
How can you justify that 3 investors couldn’t get the permit but another one did?
The people is tired of the constant abuse by the government. People is disgusted by their local and national governments.
