it's actually kind of sad that the city of erie and millcreek township have sold out the public just to save a few dollars.

you cannot replace experience with technology. granted, they do have some pretty cool things as far as technology, but you need the personnel with the capacity to utilize the tools.

the community is losing a valuable resource.....and no one seems to really care.

When i made the statement, "no one cares", i was referring to the politicans and for most of the community at large.

The politicians see this cost savings as a feather in their caps, but wait until the law suits start rolling in over the mistakes that will be made, or are being made.

the majority of the public doesnt have a clue as to what's going on.....If they had any idea they would be calling their elected officials....

And its sad that the news media wont fully investigate these stories....a chance for real journalism and they run away from from the story. scared that they may upset the turnip truck

It would help if there were information "available" as to what the problems and issues are. Most of the information out there comes from very respected members of the community, but there is no concrete evidence of any wrong doings YET! That should change when the City of Erie Police go online. I truly feel sorry for the citizens of the City of Erie and I am praying for all of the officers whose lives will be on the line due to the ignorance of the elected officials. The truth will not be able to be hidden forever. Eventually, it will all fall down like a deck of cards.

epdcsos, if you need directions to the unemployment line, I'm sure any one of the new dispatchers can get you there. Until then, shut the hell up about this. Your union rep, the washed-out wannabe police officer (HA!!! auto theft task force leader!! who are you kidding!!)that he is, isn't going to save you now. Iv'e heard that they are hiring pizza delivery dispatchers in Erie.. if you hurry. By the sound of things, you have the whining and bitching part down, but I'm unsure of the dispatching part.

jared, the only tool you mention is, in fact, yourself.

Ponchis, you are obviously someone that has been on the wrong side of the law and have NO clue what public safety is, so you go on being the TOOL that you are and figure out when it is that you need to grow TFU!

Ponchis...aka...Upper level management at the Erie County Department of Public Safety who has had enough of the bashing of their system. Too bad! Talk about whining! If you don't want to know what people are saying about your system, then don't read these posts! Simple as that....But then again, you would have to have CLUE to realize that.......

i think it is time for all of you to get into the new millenium and accept the fact the new center is here to stay. like everything else, there are going to be some growing pains, and some understanding is going to have to be afforded while the kinks get worked out. i have indirect ties to this topic, and i can honestly say alot of "info" that has been shared here is very inaccurate...too many to list. i know they provide a very important service, but expecting it to take off without a hitch is quite unrealistic. to the nay-sayers here, i suggest you attend the county council meetings and express your concerns to your elected officials. the media covers the meetings heavily. make your voices heard, but have a little patience and understanding too.

Your post is the funniest I have read! Attend a CC meeting and express concerns? Those people don't give a rats *** as to what those who elected them care about. The media? Good grief! They don't cover anything unless the county tells them to. It's nice to see that there are some taxpayer's that still have faith in our elected leaders. This spend now and pay later mentality is growing old with most of the folks in this county. We all have to live on a budget and it's time the elected officials realize this concept too!

Too little patience? so we are suppose to stand by while they work out the kinks? and what do u consider the kinks? peoples lives? homes? its all about money not safety...the people being hired at the county have a wopping 500 hours of simulated training in comparison to people who have been doing this for years! I have ties to the issue and i can tell u that all the mistakes they have made with corry and now trying to take on EPD which has a much much higher call volume people are going to get hurt! Officers and firefighters who are known very well by their dispatchers, have sit back and watch the people they have grown to care about face dangerous situtations and know they are being sent there by people without a clue. Wow your right this 911 center is such a great idea.

OMG! Thanks for the laugh in such a serious topix forum! Laughter is good for the soul and you always seem to bring that back to us! We could call the show "The Days of our Lives of the Young and Restless" Has a ring to it doesn't it?

I have many friends and family in Erie County that represent the volunteer & paid fire departments and local police departments. This whole project could have been handled the proper way and those fools at the county wouldn't be putting the lives of those who mean the most to me on the line because of their "Ignorance" My grandpa, who fought in the horrors of WW II, always told me that "Evil exists because Good people stand by and do nothing" Well, I don't want him to be ashamed of me standing by and doing nothing. Someone is going to die on their watch! If enough people stand together and bring forth the "Truth" as to what is happening, then maybe, something might change. Then again, I could win the lottery tomorrow too! LOL
