The 200,000 to the East Coast artist shows what Santa Cruz leaders think of local artists. Their spokesperson Ms. Birns is an East Coaster and is perfect for her job as head of the city's art programs because she is a would be artist who lacks talent, but plays the local ultra political correct sensibilities to promote art of no talent like herself. It is truly a level playing field as far as art here--whoever sucks up to the powers that be is equal to the talented.

Crafty ol' Micah Posner.

He knows the train would fail. He just wants us to buy the rail line so that we can have a nice recreational bike path.

Hey, a lot of us would like that, but we can't afford it, and it's immoral to use state transportation dollars to spend on recreation.

The means justify the ends, though, right Micah?

Yes, it took more than 24 hours, but it appears there is still hope for an agreement between the county Regional Transportation Commission RTC and Sierra Northern Railway.
Micah Posner, Santa Cruz

In this process our RTC Commission gives away the store, realizing they have zero leverage in the negotiations and consequently show their willingness to throw the taxpayer under the train to placate entitlement seekers like the tax vacuum Picah Mosner and his minions that disappear into their cars every rainy day.

The taxpayer rape from Leadership that's on the Road to Perdition continues.

"Don't bury news

I anxiously awaited the delivery of my Sentinel this morning, looking forward to your coverage of the Chilean mine rescue. This incredible, perhaps once-in-a-lifetime, story was eclipsed by the spectacular front-page coverage of the Santa Cruz High School marching band and Saturday's parade. Huh!? I am just dumbfounded. We all just love marching bands. Evidently, the Sentinel editors love them far more than those pesky miners, who were "buried" on page 6. I am all for coverage of local stories, but perhaps, just maybe, you need to take a look at the world outside the island of Santa Cruz.

Stan Foster, Corralitos"

Stan, there has been an unending amount of media coverage on the miners. More so than any human can consume. You cannot get away from the coverage. And you need more? And you write a letter about it? That's what was so important it got you out of your chair to write a letter?

And who in the **** was in control of the train when it crashed! Thinking that the economy can pull itself out of this mess in a few short years is a joke. And thinking that the right wing Republicans can pull us out of this mess is even more of a joke! Only long sighted middle of the road politics will prevail but I don't count on that ever happening.

-So we spent over a trillion dollars on stimulus. Handouts. Just giving people more money to spend will not get us out of the recession. You need investments into technology and job creation. But the lawyer at the top has never created a job in his life. And he does not know how. Guys who have created jobs are: Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, Warren Buffet, John Chambers, Steve Jobs and others. Here is a recommendation? Why don't you create a committee of people like the above to create a plan to get the economy moving again? The issue I have with Obama is that he is so arrogant. Its his way or no way. And if you don't agree with him you are an obstructionist.

Spending $200,000 of city money for an art project three weeks before the vote on Measure H raises the odds of that measure not passing by an enormous degree. The provenance of the money for the art does not matter, in the eyes of voters it's all the same. That the so-called politicians sitting on the City Council do not seem to be aware of this is rather shocking.

Micah is a tool. The issue I have with him is he hates cars. He want's to spend the majority of automobile taxes on alternative transportation (rail trail) but he also wants to obstruct people who use cars from enhancing their commute. He is against widening HWY 1. Wants to remove cars from King Street. If he were a true bike advocate, he would agree to widen Hwy one, get cars of city streets to make it easier for bikes. MICAH is a true anti-automobile activist. Also, for the Sentinel, stop asking him for quotes to transportation issues. He is not an expert.

Sandra Cohen: Great point. The Cooper House ended without even a whimper, but a deteriorated eyesore has Pomerantz and other no-growth tools linking arms to protect it?

Stan Foster: As already pointed out by "Sarah L Palin", the Chilean miner rescue had all day TV coverage, but I didn't see a thiung on TV about the SC High marching band. Can you say "local newspaper"?

Micah Posner and Bruce Sawmill: Yeah, give a big cheer if your fellow fools on the RTC carry out your dream of raping local and state taxpayers for the fulfillment of your very narrow special interests.

At least the "lawyer at the top" has a brain and is actually using it to stop Great Depression 2.0. George W. was the leader of several failed businesses, and McCain has never run a business in his life. Thank God the Dems are in charge right now...and, will have more power after November.

-Tarp was created by Bush to stabilize the banking industry. Most of all the tarp funds have been paid back. Obama signed into law the stimulus package of 798 Billion and promised we needed this to keep unemployment under 8%. How has that worked for you? Can you please list Obama's accomplishments?

Mr. Foster, among other readers must be disappointed in the Sentinel failure to cover this miraculous recovery and happy ending now that all 33 mine workers have been recovered healthy and safe and greeted by Chilean President Sebastian Pinera.

Maybe the Sentinel chose to not cover this event because of the excellent example provided by President Pinera!

You see, the initial reports of the cave-in indicated the 33 miners were either probably dead or would die because it was considered virtually impossible to rescue them under the given conditions.

But, once a communication line was made available, President Pinera who is a member of the Chilean conservative party, spoke to the miners and promised he would not give up on them and he would utilize whatever means and cost it takes to rescue them including accepting all offers of assistance form other nations!

President Pinera is very wise and humble and he immediately took assistance offered from 12 other nations including the United States which offered technical assistance from NASDA engineers and U.S. drill bit manufacturers who came up with the prototype air impact drilling bit and NASA engineers assisted in the designed of the rescue capsule which the Chilean Navy constructed!

Quite a contrast and marked difference as to how our Pretender in Chief Obama reacted when foreign nations offered help immediately after the BP Gulf explosion and oil leak!
