How about some disclosure on what public money was spend on salaries and expenses on this type of nonsense?

This is not nonsense. A project that gets young minds and hearts and hands busy creating community artwork is a positive step toward raising children who will not join gangs and engage in violence. This is a worthwhile project that was well done. Of course my opinions are those of an old lady who successfully raised 4 children to become well educated, responsible, caring and contributing members of society. Perhaps I have a biased outlook.

This project was commissioned by the city of Santa Cruz for many reasons...a.) it provided maximum opportunities for students (over 3,000!!!), teachers, tax payers, citizens, business owners, city officials, artists and just about anyone who wanted to b.) participate in the creative process and c.)be part of a large collaborative artistic installation.
Kathleen Crocetti, artist, teacher, activist....can organize thousands of folks to come together in the name of the creative process and the arts to collaboratively create masterpieces so effectively. Her positive attitude, inviting nature, and exceptional skill lends to the ease of a process many would shy away from in an instant. Off the streets and INTO ART were over 3 thousand KIDS of all ages, even young adults who live in the neighborhood created at least one tile and their creative image is a part of the whole. Middle school students were invited to create the over all graphic image, of which 3 winning designs from two middle schools were compiled to create one beautiful, unified, balanced design that catches the eye and keeps ones' interest for quite a time.
In a day and age when reading about the negative crimes committed in this city in the name of claiming turf, this is a JOY to read about, to watch the process, to be involved in the process, to document the process...There is no price for this kind of experience. The gift from the city = Crocetti + community = something PRICELESS!

Grinch much lately?

I'd rather read this type of story anytime over the rash of violence and crime news that is becoming the norm.

This mural is a work of art, and is all the more wonderful because of all of the participants. Ms. Crocetti is a true gem of an art activist, and a fantastic leader. The mural will hopefully be seen by many. Public art beautifies cities.
