I think you have to be pretty stable before they will medivac you out. I know that sounds like an oxymoron but They had to wait awhile at the dominican helipad before they medivacced my friend out.
Guy passed later in the morning, far past the GOLDEN HOUR. Stabilized..no,it takes awhile to prep a person for flight. My problem is the fact that no Level one Trauma unit is available to the folks in Santa Cruz or Monterey counties. Its a true disservice to all that reside here. You can't even get an HMO if you reside in Monterey. But twist an ankle while falling off your bike and your flown out based on mechanism of injury. And then your slapped with a 5k helicopter bill...go figure.

Yeah Rita - state the obvious and throw some acid on those in mourning. You suck! I hope I can personally make you hurt one day!
what is your problem? Sometimes it takes a tragedy to remind people to keep themselves and loved ones safer. Reports said alcohol was not an issue, and that it appears the driver fell asleep. Most of us have driven while sleepy and, luckily, got to our destination. If this accident hd been the result of alcohol, there would have been all sorts of hateful posts (an there are assumptive hateful posts here). With any luck, someones life will be saved by reading this post and pulling over. That's not salt in the wound, that is gratitude for the gift oflife.
