I say go for it and let teachers run schools. Heck, let them run entire districts. There might be a few little problems, like how are they going to be teaching the same time they are doing administrative duties and how will they handle parents when the parent wishes to go up the chain of command. How will they handle hiring and background checks, and how will they handle termination? State and Federal mandates? Student discipline? Will they show up when the school floods and coordinate the cleanup? ELL training? Who will they turn their ADA into every day? How will they get their paychecks or food for the students? Who will coordinate bus schedules and after school programs? Even a hefty raise wouldn't come closing to giving teachers the ability to do all.
What you'd end up with is teachers not being in the classroom but handling these things, and many more I haven't mentioned.
OH WAIT! Those are called administrators!!!

Chip, if you went to the fourth floor you would find several people doing a whole lot of nothing, kind of like Cal Trans. You hire one person to dig a hole, then you have a safety code enforcer, a time keeper a flag waver and then a supervisor. Don't you think you have one too many administrators?
Regarding Willie's goal to add a football field at PV High, doesn't he know the Jets and the NY Giants share a football field. We have 25% unemployment in Watsonville and he wants to build a staidum. That would help his business partners, but how is PVUSD going to pay for it with such a poor, local company? His head is in the clouds.
Unfortunately, Leslie Derose doesn't have a competent challenger.
Patrice Edwards doesn't have the personality or character to be on the board.
Glad I am not in that district!

Patrice Edwards is the only one who has the real world experience to tackle the budget problems, negotiate with District employees, communicate with parents and the community all to work for a better education for our kids.
She is a tried and true businesswoman, community volunteer and parent.
Patrice is running for School board because she believes our children deserve better.

I agree that there is still some deadwood. I agree that adding a field right now is a hairbrained idea. BUT I also know there are some very good, dedicated administrators in the district. What happens a little too much is they get good (or very good) and they move to a more sane district, but at least PVUSD has them for a while. The district is just too dang big.
Leslie's opponent is not qualified. Willie's opponent is out of her mind. Patrice and Camille are clueless. Jeff has no opponent. The only sane and qualified person I've seen out of the bunch is Kim.
