'Bikes on the Bay' rumbles into Soquel - Santa Cruz Sentinel

What a fantastic event. It's rare in this day to have a non-political, non-religious, non-politically correct, gender/sexuality-neutral, culture-free event in Santa Cruz. However, because of this, I'm sure there's already small but very noisy committee trying desperately to snuff this one out. Enjoy it while you can....I sure did. Perhaps if the riders were doing this to raise awareness for the PC cause de jour, then the liberal gangs will leave us bikers alone.

It was a peaceful, respectful, relatively quiet show in an area with very few residents to bother with noise. It's only flaw was overpowering Michael's on Main with more business than they were staffed to handle, and deserves neither of the two negative sentiments spewed from above.

This was a fun event. I bumped into several people I know who are enthusiast and wanted to just have a couple of hours of fun in the sun! There were sport bikes; M/C; kids; adults; vintage bikes; new cruisers; old-school cruisers; customs; and even a rat bike! This event was a true cross section of Santa Cruz county having fun & respecting each other, with the heavy presence of drugs and alcohol.

This is how living in an open and diverse community is suppose to be about! Thanks to all who were there!

Don't forget the scooters that were there. The location is the perfect venue for this show. It is just plain, simple fun.

This was really mellow event it wasn't a big Harley loud pipe biker rally!Collecting, restoring, riding and displaying a beautiful motorcycle is fun hobby,mind your own business and STFU!!!!!

Love to see a few full- faired & year-round trikes; say a street improved (street legal) Kill-a-cycle (electric motor) drag racer tamed down. A fleet of Electothon vehicles would be much more pleasing to me, but not in this county, I guess.

Yep...that 45" flathead servicar is a gem....and your F1 was also a true 'stand-out' at the show. The Watsonville police department has an all original servicar that they very occasionally bring out. It would be nice to see it restored as well as the one at the show. Thanks for the pics...good stuff.

THANKS TO ALL THE COMPLIMENTS ON MY 1939 HARLEY DAVIDSON SERVI-CAR. IT WAS A GREAT EVENT THAT I WILL DEFINITLY BE AT NEXT YEAR. I MET A LOT OF GREAT PEOPLE AND HAD A BLAST TALKING TO THE PEOPLE THAT TRULY HAVE A PASSION FOR MOTORCYCLES TO THE EXTENT THAT I DO. I HAVE ALWAYS SAID "ITS FOR THE LOVE OF THE BIKE" - FOR THE SMILES AND WIDE EYES.
I RESTORED THIS BIKE NOT ONLY FOR ME BUT ALSO FOR ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME PASSION AND MEMORIES AS I HAVE. MY "RARE GEM" DESERVES TO BE SEEN AND HEARD, SO THANKS TO ALL.
