Full story: KOB-TV New Mexico

Since 2000 we have had more dry years than wet years, according to the National Weather Service.

I suppose you will tell us next that Superstorm Sandy was just a hoax staged by liberal scientists.

Are you actually going to believe what government tells you?
The stats are as skewed as a dogs hind leg.
Check out a few other sources before you holler Global warming.

I believe its been warmer in NM than in the past, perhaps for the entire world too for that matter. However blaming man as the sole cause as zealots would have you believe is IMO bunk! Man didn't cause the ice age, nor is it the cause of the warming trend. Contributors perhaps...

OK, good idea to see what non-governmental organizations say.

American Meteorological Society
"There is unequivocal evidence that Earth’s lower atmosphere, ocean, and land surface are warming; sea level is rising; and snow cover, mountain glaciers, and Arctic sea ice are shrinking. The dominant cause of the warming since the 1950s is human activities. This scientific finding is based on a large and persuasive body of research." http://www.ametsoc.org/policy/2012climatechan...

Americal Chemical Society
"Careful and comprehensive scientific assessments have clearly demonstrated that the Earth’s climate system is changing in response to growing atmospheric burdens of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and absorbing aerosol particles. Climate change is occurring, is caused largely by human activities, and poses significant risks for—and in many cases is already affecting—a broad range of human and natural systems. The potential threats are serious and actions are required to mitigate climate change risks and to adapt to deleterious climate change impacts that probably cannot be avoided."

I am sure that the scientists who belong to these professional societies know a whole lot more about this subject that you do. But, since you think you know so much, do share with us the sources of your information. You seem like a brainwashing victim of the Heartland Institute, an industry-funded source of junk science and disinformation, that wants to sell us dirty energy and tobacco products.

This is a junk-science web site that operates outside of the realm of truth, logic and reason. For example, consider their statement about their own organization,

"Ask any geologist or paleontologist about climate change and you're very likely to get a much different answer than what you'll get if you ask a modern computer model crazed climatologist. Anyone that studies the history of this planet laughs at the notion that what little climate change our planet has experienced in the past 100 years is unusual." http://www.globalwarminghoax.com/page.php...

Ask "any geologist"??? OK, let's see what the Geological Society of America, that includes more than 25,000 geologists across the world, has to say on the subject.

"This position statement (1) summarizes the strengthened basis for the conclusion that humans are a major factor responsible for recent global warming; (2) describes the large effects on humans and ecosystems if greenhouse‐gas concentrations and global climate reach projected levels; and (3) provides information for policy decisions guiding mitigation and adaptation strategies designed to address the future impacts of anthropogenic warming." http://www.geosociety.org/positions/position1...

As such globalwarminghoax.com has a fundamental problem with not being able to tell the truth. But your posts suggest that they have had some success in deceiving dimwitted fools into believing their BS. Try getting your science info from real unbiased science organizations and then come back here when you can discuss this issue intelligently.

I just hope I never "get" the neurosyphilis or whatever it is that you have, that has damaged your ability to reason.

There is probably a 12-step help program for people like you who are terrified of math and science. But it's not fair for you to classify the tens of thousands of degreed scientists as "eco-terrorists" just because they use truth, logic and reason to disprove your pseudo-scientific political myths.

So, until you get help, you should leave the science to real scientists...it won't be so scary for you that way. Take some hydrocodone, tune into the Rush Limbaugh show, and wallow in the safety of your blissful ignorance.

I remember back in 1954 when all the prominent scientists said the evidence points to an Ice age coming and we must act quickly to avoid a global catastrophe.
Any who believes humans are the main cause of global warming has their head up al gores butt. Is that smell ok for you? Huh, bronco boy?

There was a time when prominent scientists thought that the Sun rotated around the Earth. And the Church would burn any dissenting scientists at the stake just to prove the correctness of this theory.

So, according to your Bubba-logic, if scientists were wrong once, they are wrong all the time.

BTW, Gore is a lawyer, not a scientist, and his book was more like a news article, certainly not a scientific paper.

So, as we enter a new forest fire season, and if you see the dry hills around Ruidoso burning once again, may you be comforted by your belief that humans have absolutely nothing to do with climate change and drought.

This is one of the few times that I agree with you, LV, but as a physicist I think we may need to be very careful on how we separate out man made influences from natural cyclic variations. When the "noise" of natural variations is much larger than the "man made" causes the data is much more difficult to separate and understand. I'm sure that there people who think they understand the differences and perhaps they do.
