9 years for taking an innocent life? Something is wrong here! The accused DWI driver needs to be sentence to life in prison or better yet...put his sober self in a vehicle parked on the side of the road and slam a vehicle into the rear-end of his and give him an eye for an eye sentence! I hope that he lives just a little bit longer than what his innocent victim may have felt so he can suffer because it sounds like this has happened twice! Now that's the way justice should be served for this 31 year old guy's irresponsible choice for drinking & driving and getting out on the highways and putting you, me, and our family & friends lives in danger.

Kudos to the person(s) & law enforcement officers who tried diligently to apprehend this jerk. Unfortunately it was too late as we have read about this tragic story.

Lastly, my prayers & condolences to the family of Mr Jeff and my prayers for Mr Jeff's passenger as I hope Ms Cooper finds the courage & support to cope with the loss of Mr Jeff.

When will this madness stop? I propose we line up all repeated offenders of drunk driving at their homes, before they leave the premises, and take them out with an AK-47 to the head. Since they will eventually commit manslaughter, it's best to do the humane approach, and take them out before they kill someone else. They should be considered future murderers, and we should be considered lifesavers of a future generation.

We all know this guy will get let off with a slap on the wrist. Our District Attorney's office is full of WIMPS. I hope you are paying attention Mr. Tedrow. We are counting on you to do something about the mess in SJC.

I bet when he gets to District Court, as all Judges
in this district are liberal wimps, we will be lucky
if he gets 9 months with 6 suspended.

My goodness.........

My sympathies and prayers go out to the families of Mr. Jeff and Ms. Cooper. I do hope Mr. Eldridge pays for his crime. I hope you realized you made a horrible mistake on 2 families......driving on the damn shoulder like that!

I have seen people do that and I always have my children in the car with me and it angers me to the core to see careless driving like that put my babies in that kind of danger. You should get the rest of your life behind bars. You choose to drink and drive therefore, the justice system should choose yours and make it that you never drive on the roads again even if you do just get the 9 years. Didn't you just hear that my uncle and his wife lost their lives on Monday night and my cousin is in the hospital in Albuquerque! How selfish!

How could you not learn anything from how precious life is!!!

what a selfish man! san juan county needs to focus on the outer skirts of the reservation where all the numbskulls think drinking and driving doesn't apply to them! there are still drivers drinking out there. it just pisses me off that people are so negligent with alcohol. c'mon, control yourself f**ckin retard! there are nice families out on the road as well, they should take his damn life! Condolensces to the victims family.

Let's see. Farmington cop kills Navajo man who was beating the s..t out of his girlfriend and who was threatening the cop with the cop's stolen baton, and and Farmington is labeled racist.
Navajo sots take three lives and critically injure two others, because the tribe won't do anything about the rampant alcohol abuse of its citizens. And it's just "the poor Indian."
Something is wrong here.

Understandably many of you are angry over drunkards taking innocent lives. You need to calm down and think about your family members. Arguing and bickering over the web will not bring loved ones back, but reorganizing a prevention program will save many lives in the future.
The Navajo Nation Council Delegates recognize the problem and have statistics. Several council members will listen, but not all will consider the problem. So people let's do something, but when, where, and how?
Write to your council members, chapter officials, local newspaper, law enforcement, and talk with your family members. Today, I will travel with my fingers crossed hoping to return back home safely.

Sounds like the Navajo's fault again, for something that occurs on the other side of the line. Get over it!! We all have a common enemy-alcohol and racism. Until we have a consenus perhaps Mr. former CCSD we can utilize your expertise in what ever you do. "We need do really do something about this as a San Juan county community." On top of it no one condons this type of behavior especially with most spiritual moments of the Christmas holidays looming. I do appreciate the SJC Commissioners: they are the ones that seem to addresssing it, thusfar. I suggest the blaming crowd to advocate for radical changes in monitoring liquor outlets or establishments. I hope some more liquor licences get on the chopping block. I know many friend's lives of many backgrounds affected by substance abuse.

May The Good Lord be with innocent victims of this senseless crash.

9 years? What is 9 years? Known the judicial system, this idiot and all the other idiots will be walking the streets again after only having served a few years. They should get the death penalty, why do we have to pay taxes to support their sorry behinds? Justice needs to be done!

My condolences and prayers to all the people who have lost loved ones since December 4.

Rest in Peace Rio, Raynard, Ilene, Arnod & Mr. Jeff.

9 years! That is a pathetic excuse considering the DRUNK DRIVER took the lives of two innocent people.

This could've happened anywhere anytime to any-one.....being the victim of a drunk driver.....

If you read the story, this man should not have been free to kill anybody else since he had already been charged in 2006 for a unstated death, and the people responsible for letting him out should be punished for this death as well.

The Navajo Nation is always claiming sovreingty, so if that is true let's set up border checkpoints just like we have with Mexico and Canada. If a drunk Navajo is trying to enter our country or flee our country we could block them. That would make our streets and our communities safer from the Navajo drunks who disregard our laws and lives. Let them stay in their own country if they will not respect ours.
