No way would I vote for these clowns, particularly DoNothingDenish or LittlyMartys twin - Peter Dinelli.

I'm looking forward to another term with Mayor Berry. With an 85% approval rating he must be doing things right!

Mayor Berry is doing a great job. If I lived in ABQ I would vote to re-elect him.

It seems Dinelli is upset that Mayor Berry settled a Safe City Strike Force lawsuit against the very organization Dinelli used to head up. The case (which Dinelli won't expand upon) was probably one that was on Dinelli's watch!

Having read the rest of that article in today's news, I see a couple other noteworthy items in it.

- He's gung-ho police, meaning he'd probably pull the same BS antics his daddy Marty 'the Runt' Chavez pulled while Mayor when dealing with the APD, and ones we've been paying on for quite awhile.

- He's a frigging attorney, just what we need, another washed up lawyer as Mayor. Will we ever learn? The 'Runt' was a lawyer too<sigh>.

- He's playing the "I'm Hispanic too" card. Stumping for votes and pimping yourself as being Hispanic when it suits you there Peter?

New Mexico politcal surveys have to be understood with a little understanding that the approval rating has nothign to do with the votes. Richardson had 58% approval rating when he left office, yet his Denish lost the race. First year, he had a 94% approval, our current governor 72%, lower than his next to last year.

So, an approval rating of 85% does not mean anything-unm's professors often get high ratins, even when they are being asked to leave, retire, or denied tenure-people say yes often in NM, when their actions say "no" resoundly.

Berry is going to have to work just like Marty did, to stay elected. I do not especially like him, but he is much better than his own interviews and such suggested when he was running for office.

BTW, the Dinelli's are Italian, they produced, that ethnicity, Pete domenici i nthe past, perhaps he will do well too!

True overall, and he should work at it in order to gain the public's trust. But in general I think Berry has that distinct advantage.

Denish(DND) lost more than anything because:
- she's not good at debating
- because she had no experience
- because she lacked vision
- because people associated her with his antics
- because of her stance on ILLEGALS having NMDL's and why she said she went along with it
- because she whined about some of the stuff Billy Triple Chins did to her, like not letting her know when he was out of state traveling and she was the Gov for a day, and for him curtailing her security detail. Both of which were pretty shitty on his part too but be that as it may...
Those are some of the reasons she will never be the next Mayor of Abq.

You're right about approval ratings in a general sense too, they are typically meant to tip the scales one way or the other and not often a real good indicator of how people feel. As for BTC, his were high at first then went downhill as his antics became known.

I was surprised that Dinelli told the Journal he was Hispanic, which in part may or may not be true, but IMO was a deliberate attempt on his part to garner some of the vote by associating. Cheesy at best, a lawyer/politician tactic...

CornDogz, I think you talk alot but don't say much!
Mr. Dinelli stated he is half Italian on his father's side and half hispanic from his mother. Is plain english to hard for you to understand? It seems you just need to comment negatively about other people when you don't know the truth.
It is a well known fact the Mr. Dinelli and Marty Chavez did not agree on many things but yet you say "Little Martys Twin". For example Dinelli did not want Shultz as Police Chief but Marty was Mayor so what could he do.
As for Berry's high approval rating - if your not doing anything then people don't have any reason to dislike you. The truth about Berry's lack of action to do major projects will be exposed soon enough and his rating is going to plummet. No wonder why Ed Adams retired. That guy liked to get things done and with Berry's Administration he sat idle with chains on his feet. Besides Berry never wanted to be Mayor anyway. He ran to get name recognition for his upcoming run for Senate and accidentally won. Berry is going to bail on Albuquerque as soon as his next political move up position is aligned.
Mr. Dinelli has gained the public's trust. He was a Judge for 7 years, deputy director of the legal department for 8 years (back when they didn't settle b.s. cases), Chief Public Safety Officer who let the Chiefs be Chief unlike the jackass Mr. Berry put in there who totally wrecked the Police Department in just 18 months. Dinelli has been serving the citizens for 28 years as a public servant and I challenge you to find "real" dirt on him. Do your research before making false statements as it undermines your credibility.

And just how does this promote his qualifications for the Mayors job? If that's all he's got he's already lost. Dinelli is little Marty's clone. Wouldn't be surprised were he to hire the Runt as his CAO.

Berry for another 4 years is a good thing.

Really, with all the public servant time seems to me he should retire and make room for someone else. We've got enough career politicians already.

I'm not looking for dirt, simply saying Berry is a MUCH better choice than Dinelli, and more qualified to run the city.
