Looking at brain development, pouring more funds into preK is not the answer. Applying money to older student to encourage them to stay in high school is needed. Programs for 6th - 9th graders may shore up areas of academic weakness, resulting in mastery of skills needed to complete a HS diploma and success in college.
I agree that too much money is spent on sports and that a history of funneling money to support them from academics undermines the sole mission of any university.
