Wa I was just reading about your city and it is scarey. is there anything good about your city? it seems to me from the reading it is getting worse.
will the hud bill help or hinder its possibility of growth and why are the busnesses helping to clean up the place to attract more people to come and spend.

the summers in boston are great, if you are into sports, good place to , many things to keep you busy, and for a town this size you feel safe. but i hate winter more than I like all of those things. heating bills are like a house payment. would like to move to corpus to solve that. never been there 3rd. week in august will be my first time. meeting an agent to show me some houses. would like to know what areas to avoid. dont want to look at any fringe neighborhoods.

Your AC bill in the summer will be like a house payment or more.

I love my home( I am away right now for work ) but is really dangerous, and the city has deteriorated. If you are a Nurse , your shifts will never be boring.

I do NOT care what the agent says ,, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING there .. you will never sell it . If you must buy dont do it until you have rented something nice for at least 6 months ,, then decide ,,

Having said all that . I have to have surgery alot and I always love my male nurses.5 years ago my gall bladder ruptured there in Corpus and if it hadnt been for a male nurse diagnosing me himself and arguing with the Dr about it , I would be dead. I have had a long terrible road since , and I love ALL my nurses ,, but that one and my male surgical nurses/anesthetists are really special to me.. there seems to be so few that I get the same ones everytime, so you get kind of bonded .

thank you dutchess, if the houses in corpus are unsellable the how come as i look on the web site for houses the price never drops. is there any safe neighborhoods i can go to work , then just go home. I am a single guy so looking for a house with a pool and a backyard for my dog, anything safe like that there. i hate loud neighbors, and where are the police when that crime is happening.

You are very welcome Howard .. the house prices do drop ,, I havent been online to look but alot of times they will just rent the houses. I live either on Padre or in Port Aransas when I am home and I lived in one three years that couldnt sell and it's owner had moved..Maybe some of the other posters know about reductions but we have one poster here that I swear his house has been for sale F O R E V E R and he wants to leave but cant .... There really is no place safe in our beloved Corpus ,,most of us here love it and miss it ..miss what it once was .. those of us that have been there a long time ..

Corpus Christi is gangland- wannabe and real, and has a HUGE population of violent, mentally ill homeless folks , I have lived in large cities both here and Europe and have never seen a comparable homeless population except maybe NYC but it is close.Add to that it is a port town near Mexico . I swear we cannot have one public gathering that someone doesnt get shot .

The cops have alot of internal problems and have for awhile ,, I think they are probably doing the best they can but really, even out on the island we would have problems....

I am going to tell you , Portland ,,, the older genteel neighborhoods right off Ocean Dr,,, out where I lived on Padre,,,, Calallen is good but not so close to the medical scene..

What do you all think ,, where IS a safe place in Corpus.

Moving to Corpus next month. I have been looking into the City the past couple days.
Please tell me if incorrect.

Rent before i buy. Live on the Island. OK surfing but winter is the best time. You can drive and camp on the beach. Lots of homeless. Need to learn Spanish. Time slows down. People don't act like "Texans". More guys than girls.

Anything else I'm leaving out?

Some of you need some serious help. Depression can be cured you know. Please see a doctor. Corpus Christi is a great place to live. Wow, I can't believe how many ignorant people are on here with nothing better to do than a trash a city. Sounds like you all have personal problems. Be normal, make some friends and maybe your lives wouldn't suck so much. good ridance

OMG!!! We lived here in CC for less 3 years now because my husband works inside the base here in NAS (militry). this is a S*** hole! Were moving soon out of here and cant live anymore longer over here. If you want a laid back regular slow simple life then this is where u need to go. I like Texas A&M and some store here granted its kind of cheap compared to other places here in TX. but I wouldnt buy any property to live over here and end up sorry later on because thats how i feel right now...Most spanish/mexican culture here are shockingly rude/gang bastard ghetto group. My husband was offer to work here for $80,000 a year and I told to my husband I wouldnt still be happy even he earn that much of money because There's so many beautiful place to go here in U.S. and a chance for a good life and good neighbors...sorry this was our BAD experience here n corpus..YUCK!!!

Too many fat, dirty 3rd world Mexicans. They really drag down the place. We are military and can't wait to see this Mexican village in our rear-view window. What a sh#t-hole.

I have read a lot of these posts at the urging of some of my clients. Check the facts yourself....

http://www.islandjer.com

I believe that if you get out of the house, make friends, experience local culture, join clubs, and get involved, that you will get a true picture of where you live.

Sure the housing market is slow for sellers - but hey, it's great for buyers. And if this was a true 'Eden', you wouldn't be able to afford it!

Are you a REAL ESTATE AGENT or something?

I work for a multinational company in an executive position and my family and I couldn't wait to get out of that dump and all of the other people who were educated couldn't wait to do the same.

The only people in Corpus Christi (and I include Portland and South Padre Island) who like it are those who are uneducated, don't know any better, or who are pushing real estate. I guess I should add those who enjoy looking at graffiti everywhere and those who are just losers who can't get out.

"Get out of the house and experience the local culture..." Would that included getting injured or killed by a drunk driver, thug, "maras" (street gangs) and on and on?

Everybody in Texas knows that Corpus Christi is a dump and pit and always has been since the late 1960's. Those who can get out of Corpus Christi.

If you are pushing real estate, good luck!

I'm from Madill,Oklahoma (LAKE TEXOMA AREA) and have always wished to live in CC, i have a sister that lives in Aransas Pass, but i actually thought about just taking my (4) kids and move to CC(never visited, but plan to in July)...but now....i can honestly say i'm ...dare i say...."SCARED OFF" and may just pick Dallas or Killen, maybe San Antonio?....LOL....but hey who knows, i am bilingual and may fit there just fine, huh?

Ok, i have read the other answers on Corpus. I am coming to town for work in abut 4 months. We are looking to live on the north side of the bay (Portland, Aransas Pass, etc.) Are those any different from Corpus itself?

Yes those are very different from Corpus, if I were to recommend any it would be Portland the only thing is there city is strict and the cops are always on the lookout, which in my opinion is a good thing, it keeps the town quiet and safe to live in.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Sagittarius

There's work to be done. Even though it might seem overwhelming, there's a lot to be gained from doing Level One, or routine physical tasks. When your body is preoccupied and very little mental input is required, your mind is free to roam. Do one thing at a time, and you're assured of complete success in all your projects and undertakings today. Your health is not as good as it could be, at the moment. Consider a cleansing diet.
