Teens aren't allowed to follow their hearts

Recently I've had two friend who were forced to leave each other by the males parents. They won't allow him to talk or see her. They love each other very much and I see them as two good kids. He will be 18 soon and I believe she is 17. They don't have a bad past, just people who run their mouth and make up nonsense. They were the happiest couple ever! His parents told him when he's 18 and gets back with her they will no longer love him. Why would you treat your child like that? Can't you see they make each other happy? Don't you want your children happy?
