I'm planning to move from a small town in Indiana to Corpus Christi. I'll need a job and a place to live, of course. Could anyone reccomend a place to look for a reasonably priced one-bedroom apartment? Also, what is the job market like there? Any other information would be helpful, I'm planning to visit for a week in late May or early June to do some looking of my own and I would like to have an idea of where to go. Thanks!

I recently moved back home from the Corpus area. I would not recommend moving there. Corpus itself is dirty and crime ridden. But if you're truly set on moving there I recommend Portland not Corpus. Portland is about 15 min. from downtown corpus and much nicer. Housing is a bit more however. My wife and I were paying $849 a month for a three bedroom apt. at bridgepoint right on Lang rd. There are cheaper but this one allows pets. Now as far as jobs unless you're in sales I hope you like min. wage.

Good luck,
P.S. visit the chamber of commerece in
Portland very informitive.

I hope that you are kidding! Corpus Christi does not offer much in jobs. I agree Portland is much better to live in...or maybe the Callahan area, Outside Corpus. If you look around you will able to find affortable housing. Callahan is close to major highways. The area is nice and not too much crime in the area. My brother and sister live there about five miles away from each other and the school sytems are great.

Yikes! Good luck finding a safe place to live and a job in South Texas. Corpus Christi is really taking a hit in the housing market. Too many loans for new homes to people who can't afford the note. Not to mention... I think Corpus Christi has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the country.

Also, it's name is The Body of Christ. That's just sick. I don't want to live in the Body of Christ, and when you get here, you won't either.

My car got broken into downtown CC and my friends car got stolen just outside her apartment complex close to Staples St.. Well in another words CC is not very safe even though its not as big as Houston or the Dallas area. Good luck.

Its really not that bad around here, there is lots to do, fishing kayaking surfing snorkeling, the above people probaly didnt ever go to the beach, some people can live right on the beach and never go to it, they take it for granted, there are some areas uptown that you shouldnt go through at night time, but thats pretty much just like any town in the usa. Jobs are tight, i recommend living on the Island,or Port Aransas, lots of jobs out there in tourist season. I love Corpus and every time i leave it i really miss it alot!

that is a true fact that the girls in cc are mostly 304=(hoe). So that means that more guys will be attracted to cc. "just hit it and quit it"

This city is nice if you are 65 and retired or just on vacation. There really isnt much to do here for the younger crowd except for the beach and a few clubs where you see the same people over and over again. As far as jobs like everyone else said if you like minimum wage go for it. The only good thing i found here was my Girlfriend and as soon as she gradutates next year we are out. What good are degrees if there are no jobs. OH yeah and for that girl that says people are nice riiiight. People here have no education and are plain rude, no customer service but i wouldnt be nice either if i was makin $5 an hour dealing with all the cheapos here.

Lupix did a nice job demonstrating the intelligence and charm of Corpus Christi's finest - despite the fact that she hails from Sinton!

If that doesn't deter you, then you should be able to find a way to survive here.
