Texas Holdem and regular poker should start in 2007 if table games are approved in Jefferson County. There is no need to wait until 2008 and the completion of the hotel for regular live poker, as Mr. Finamore, Vice President of Penn National Gaming has declared. A few tables could easily be set up.

I am trying to follow this story as closely as I can. The drive to Charles Town is much closer then to AC and there are no tolls!

In fact, the reason the election is being held in June instead of waiting until November when the other topics are being voted on, is so the counties can start collecting the almost 30% profit share in the revenues.

1 The casinos have their own security too. The last things the casinos want is crime so they usually maintain a strict control of the areas. They don't want to lose their patrons. When I go to Atlantic City I don't worry about crime, which doesn't mean that things don't happen. You will have more traffic, but I believe there are plans to add another road out of Charles Town. The main reason for your growth, is the housing boom of the last few years and the flights out of the DC/MD high taxes areas, and not Charles Town. Another good item will be the addition of dealer jobs at Charles Town and the assistance to the Breeders which will help keep open green space. I would vote yes for the referendum in Jefferson. |

My husband and I go up to Atlantic City several times per year -- even though Charles Town is within 40 minutes of us. We spend thousands of dollars there playing poker.
My husband does not care for slots, but he does enjoys horseracing -- just NOT at Charles Town. The calibre of horses racing there do not generate large purses. We are hoping that the addition of table games will attract that higher quality of horseracing. I'm so tired of people saying that table games would increase the crime rate. Baltimore City and Washington DC have an extremely high rate of crime -- but no casinos. Parents always want to place the blame somewhere else, when they really should simply concentrate on raising their children properly. If this were the case, we wouldn't have so many deranged people committing such horrible crimes and murders. Please vote YES for table games -- we'll gladly spend our money there! |

I don't see any comments from other locals. Keep that crap where it belongs. We don't want it. Do you think it is a coincidence that they call New Jearsey the "arm pit" of america?

Yea I work Security there, and they already have a huge room ready, and its pretty massive plus another one coming, so as soon as they get the go ahead for table games, it will be very simple. |

Great place to go for a day trip. Table games will make it even more exciting!Forget about more crime. A crook can just as easy hit a old lady over the head for her slot money. I'm there!
