I live in huntington beach (in orange county) and a co-worker of mine lives in corona, although he paid 1/2 the price that I did for a similar house I'd MUCH rather live in huntington beach. Besides when you add in all the extra traffic he drives in his 1/2 price house isn't so attractive anymore with the cost of gas and also the fact that he spends 2 extra hours a day on the freeway.

Gee Mark, that's great if you can afford a $850K house. None of us could...that's why we are in Corona. I think given a choice, 99% of us would live there too, but can't afford the overly inflated house prices in LA and OC. |

Hi Nancy, Corona is Riverside county, San Bernardino is further out and it is a bit more smoggy in San Berdo, the theory is that the smog gets blown into and kind of locked into the mountain range Its new but if you get a chance sign up for a space at www.coronaconnections.com you might get to know some people to see what Corona is like. I had moved out of Corona and am moving back, Terrifc values compared to LA |

What do you guys think of the Lincoln Park Apts next to corona high? Is that a good neighborhood??

Nancy, the school system is phenomenal. They score some of the highest test scores in the state and, on top of that, they pay their teachers the highest in the state. If there are any teachers contemplating moving to this city, just google the corona norco school district, click on their website and then look up their pay scale for teachers. I think starting pay is like $51,000.
I live in Eastvale, which is unincorporated Corona, just north of Norco. It is actually a great place to live. The parks for children are excellent and the dairies (the cow smell that someone referred to earlier) are slowly leaving town (and getting top dollar for their land, too). Corona itself is a very old town. It is called the "Circle City" and that is because when it was designed, the main drag made a circle around downtown. Downtown has since expanded past the circle and over the 91 fwy. The weather is a little hotter than most of Orange County, but let's face it, if you want to live in So Cal, you're probably going to have to deal with a couple of 100+ degree days throughout the summer months. The traffic is just as bad as O.C., but the 15 has plenty of room to expand, and actually will expand when the funding comes around (Props 1a, b and c all went into L.A. Marin and Orange Counties). The 91 is a nightmare no matter where you are on it. There are alternate routes though. In my opinion, I would rather pay a lot less money for a lot more square footage of house and live in Corona. O.C. is over populated and over priced. P.S.- I was born in Anaheim, moved to Chino, then Rancho Cucamonga, and ended up in Corona. |

My friend and her family live in those apartments. Not the best area... |
If you're looking for a nice mobile home in a family park Creekside Mobile Estates are very nice. The rent is way lower than Green River. The houses are also cheaper. We have our house for sale and are accepting offers. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/rfs/348053... Our rent is $625 and new owner pays around $650. One of the nicest houses in the park. One down the street just sold for $102,000 so this one is a steal. we're moving out of state and need to sell soon. |

I lived in that crap hole at the Green River Mobile Home dirt pit for 10 yrs. Gladly have been out of it for the last 3 yrs. It makes my skin crawl. Coyotes eat your small pets, the pool has dirty diapered kids bathing in it, almost no way to get out if there is a fire in the surrounding hills, the freeway toxic waste is sweltering all summer unable to go anywhere but straight into your windows. OH! And the freakin trains go by all day and all night blaring their horns and rocking your trailor. NOOO! Dont move there! Anywhere but there! |

I've heard the overpass is going to be replaced at Green River so it will be closed for a while. No idea how they are going to do construction on it, but I would guess it is going to be a major inconvenience for those living off the Green River exit.

My husband and children moved from the East Costa Mesa/Back Bay area of Costa Mesa a little over a year ago. For the same price in Costa Mesa, we would have gotten a 30 yr old townhome. We purchased a 3900 sq ft home in So Corona for the same price and are getting a pool installed for the warm summer months, and a jacuzzi and firepit for the cool winter. I must say, I am enjoying the warmer climate as it gets too cold next to the coast. I do agree with everyone about the difference in people. I have so many wonderful neighbors that moved to Corona from Westminister, Costa Mesa, Mission Viejo, Orange, Anaheim, and other parts of Costa Mesa. There's tons of parks (although I wish the parks has swimming pools) and you can always go down to Dos Lagos now for good shopping (mid to high end). The Crossings in Corona is nice for movies, dinner and low to mid end shopping. I really enjoy going to the Tyler Mall that now has a Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs and more shopping. Victoria Gardens and Ontario Mills is right up the 15 fwy for even more things to do. There's a Joe's Crabshack there (my favorite) and so many other things to do. Corona is more of a laid back area with picturesque views of the mountain. I enjoy the breezes that come in. The only down side is that there is not much to do if you are a hard core partier. But, I'm sure if you want, you can go into Brea, OC, Long Beach and L.A. if you really want to party. I do not mind driving for that to have a piece of mind here and to be able to own a beautiful home that is not too old.

Hi, my husband and I live in OC right off the 241 in Irvine. We are really considering buying a house in the Corona area because the OC housing market is way above what we could afford. Our only concern is the drive to work each morning. I've been told in order to beat the traffic crunch you have to leave your house by 6am? Does anyone make the drive to OC (I need to be in OC no later than 7:15 each morning) that could clue me in on the traffic conditions in the morning and afternoon. I'm off work at 2:30-3:30. Thanks

Greg,
I am thinking of moving to the same area as you. I'm looking at the homes off of Pine/Schleisman. How is the area? Are they planning on building more retail/schools in the area?

Yes, I agree traffic is awfull on the 91..and the 15 isnt much better.. BUT.. as far as affordability and getting much more home than in the O.C. Corona is fabulous. There are many great places to eat, drink and play. If you are interested in looking at places in the city on the MLS or in Rancho Cucamonga take a look at this website www.SellWithChris.com This realtor helped my husband and I find our place...(and no he's not a friend I'm trying to send business).. Really a great website to use as a reference.

I was raised an Orange county and moved to Corona about 20 years ago. Its a great place to live. As far as the smell from dairys? Used to get that smell but has been pretty much eliminated due to all the developers coming in and swooping up the dairy land. Now along the 15 when you get closer to Mira Loma near Limonite might be a different story but we do not get the smell here anymore.
As for the schools? Corona-Norco is the best school district here in Riverside County. Anyone considering the move to Corona needs to check with the school district (Can be done online) to get the boundry lines especially in the area of McKinley near the 91 and 15 which is where the boundry is. I am about a minute away from the boundry and it puts us in the Alvord school district. I have to fight every year to keep my son that is severely disabled in a program that is in Corona-Norco that I believe to be the best program within the county of Riverside. The disabled that are able to attend Corona-Norco are very blessed to have such an awesome program. The only negative thing that I have discovered living here in Corona is the fact that we do not have much as far as medical specialist here that can meet the needs of my son. For any major medical needs such as Neurologists, Gi Doc and Ortho we have either Loma Linda or Choc to choose from. My sons docs are all at Choc in Orange County. Oh and Brian - South Corona, I agree, Just in the past three years I have noticed the 91 and the 15 getting allot worse due to developers non-stop building. I have discovered that the Metro-Link as an alternative to get to and from Orange County for Dr appointments works quite well for me. It also saves the wear and tear on our van and is cheaper to get there via train considering the cost of gas these days. Oh and Mimi1111, I know two people that live in that mobil home park that you speak of, The one off of Greenriver. I have not really heard of them speak of anything negative about the place. Space rent there is a lil higher then other places in Corona but your paying for the location.(Riverside and Orange County Line). I have been there to visit several times and find it to be very clean and well maintained. One friend lives on the backside of the park that the railroad track is near and has no problem with the passing trains at all. There have been times when I was there and yes you can hear the trains throughout the park but nobody seems to be bothered by it. My other friend lives closer to the middle part of the park next to the gulf course, You can hear the trains but you cannot feel the vibration at all of the passing trains. One thing that I noticed is that it gets pretty breezy there around the afternoon and you can hear freeway traffic. All in all I think its a nice place and depending on where your place is in the park I find that the views are just awesome, You can see parts of the Cleveland National Forest. Sooooo pretty.....:-) |
