He was simply being polite.

such occasions are not the time or place for honest evaluations.

History will judge George W Bush much more harshly. Especially in light of the independent study that showed that we did indeed torture people and that the decision to do so went right to the top.

If the courts don't judge him harshly for that (they should) History will.

" nonpartisan, independent review of interrogation and detention programs in the years after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks concludes that “it is indisputable that the United States engaged in the practice of torture” and that the nation’s highest officials bore ultimate responsibility for it.

Mr. Hutchinson, who served in the Bush administration as chief of the Drug Enforcement Administration and under secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said he “took convincing” on the torture issue. But after the panel’s nearly two years of research, he said he had no doubts about what the United States did. "

Wow dude! He was being polite was he not?

And the rest of your post has nothing to do with mine. I was talking about the independant report showing Bush was responsible for torture in violation of American Principles and international laws that we have always supported. I don't think he will be indicted either, though he should be. But I do think history will judge him harshly for it.

What do you think. Your last post didn't say.

A month or so ago I noticed that many of HERE IS ONE's posts were being deleted, so there is a pretty good chance that TOPIX finally had enough of his childish antics and lies and banned him....

At least let us hope so for the sake of some semi intelligent dialog on these fora.

But any One of the Ones could easily post under anyOne of a number of anonymous names. But would the shame of banning be too much for One?

For Willits One? Or Fossilized One? Or the other ex-mendo libertarian ex-patriots....

Now if the rest of the let's say, the “challenged ones" like loco, pro -gun, the sociopath and el twerpo to name a few would just grow up or commit themselves to some mental institution this would be a better forum.

Dissent is fine under the first amendment but being rude isn’t.

One is/was a stalker of the worst kind and so is el twerpo.

Any way, good to have you back Gramps.

If you understood the first thing about the values upon which this great nation stands you would know that YES, INDEED, that is a BAD THING.

Bush was an embarassment to the United States of America and everything we stand for. He ought to be prosecuted for his crimes to restore America's honor, he won't be, but he ought to be.

All Americans, at least those who understand American Values, not false patriots like you, should be ashamed that our president acted in such an un-American way.

I promise you history will judge him harshly for this, even if the courts will not.

John McCain gets it. Why don't you?

Are you a chicken hawk? A false patriot? Or just ignorant of the values upon which your country stands.

Here is what John McCain said on the subject.

"It is my sincerest hope that we Americans, for all of our many disagreements, can nonetheless manage to agree that torture of the kind described in this report is unworthy of our national honor and should no longer be a matter for discussion. It is my hope that we can reach a consensus in this country that we will never again engage in these horrific abuses, and that the mere suggestion of doing so should be ruled out of our political discourse, regardless of which party holds power. "

It was nice to see President Obama on the same stage as George W Bush during the dedication of the Bush library. They looked like they get along fine to me even though Obama used Bush for 4 years as a scapegoat for his own lack of solutions to our nations economic woes. The dirty little secret is that the dems in power and the repubs in power battle many time so you and I can each believe that our side is being represented but really the deal cutting and corporate manipulation of the system is thick in the unobserved background.

Under President OBAMA the economy is recovering steady as it goes and OBAMA did not "scapegoat Bush for 4 years" he merely gave credit where credit was due.

But you are correct in one thing. Corporations have been manipulating our system ever since it became pretty much a plutocracy...
