Below is a message I sent to several people on facebook on August 6th:

"Here are the facts, and you can judge for yourself whether or not Nick Carpenter is guilty.

Last June, I visited my family in Corning for a week. My grandmother gave me $600. I put this money in my wallet. On June 22, I had to catch a flight out of Memphis airport. When I arrived at the airport, the money was missing.

The morning of my flight, I was asleep on my brotherís bed. My wallet was lying on his computer table. Only my brother and I were at home. My brother left for a few minutes at one point to go uptown. When he returned, Nick Carpenterís car was in our driveway, and then Nick came walking out of our front door. He had been inside looking for Derek.

It is at this time that Nick may have stolen my money. If he stole it, perhaps he was thinking that no one would be able to suspect him of doing it, because the house was empty, and I was asleep. That plot would have been foiled when my brother pulled up in the driveway.

When I told my brother that my money had disappeared, he suspected Nick of stealing it, so he asked several of his friends to watch Nick over the next several days to see if he spent any large amounts of money. Several people confirmed that he did indeed spend a lot of money, totaling up to an estimate of at least $470. I will go into the details of this in just a moment.

On the morning that my money disappeared, Nick himself had confessed to Derek that he only had $20 to last him over the next 5 days until he received his paycheck. After my money was known to be missing, my brother contacted Nickís parents to enquire whether they gave him any money, and both his mother and father said they did not give him any money.

Nick supposedly only had $20, and yet, out of nowhere, he had at least $470 to blow.

Below is what Nick is reported to have spent money on, along with the estimated amounts.(I will withhold the names of the witnesses of these purchases. Ask me privately if youíd like to know who they are.)

$170 Shiny Black and Gold Shoes
$50 Swimming Trunks
$40 Khaki Shorts
$40 2 Shirts for his father (fatherís day gift)
$40 2 Shirts for himself
$15 flip-flops
$25 Marajuana
$20 Club entrance fee
$30 Food at restaurants
$40 Gas

My brother gave all of this information to the police as soon as it was available.

I returned to Corning about a month after my money disappeared. On July 17 my brother and I confronted Nick and his father at their home about my stolen money. Nick denied doing it. When we asked how he got the money to purchase all of the above items, he would not give a straight answer. But he did say he bought the $170 shoes from a guy named Daniel for $40. My brother knows Daniel, so we called Daniel and asked if he sold Nick these particular shoes, and Daniel said he did not sell them to Nick. Regardless, Nick supposedly didnít even have $40 to spendóhe only had $20, according to his own admission on June 22.

After speaking to Nick and his father, my brother and I spoke to Nickís mother and step-mother. They both said they think he probably did it. Nickís step-father also told me that he believes Nick stole $90 out of his wallet, and he subsequently threatened to beat the shit out of Nick, causing his mother to have to kick Nick out of the house to go live with his father. Nickís step-father also said Nick is suspected of stealing $80 out of his cousin Adam Carpenterís wallet.

Nick has a long history of stealing things and has been caught by the police several times. Nick is currently on probation for his previous crimes. There is also currently a warrant for his arrest for failure to pay fines (fines for what, I donít know).

message continued:
"An officer called me about an hour ago after interrogating Nick. Nick still denies stealing my money. His father also has changed his story and now says he gave Nick the money to buy whatever he bought, after my brother and I both witnessed him saying that he did not give Nick the money.
The officer tells me he hasnít enough evidence to charge Nick with anything. If Nick stole my money, the law cannot help me get it back at this point. That is why Iím sending this message to all of you people. I see that all of you are facebook friends with Nick. If you can provide me with information to prove that Nick stole my money (or didnít), I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to read this message. If you know other people who should see it, please forward it.

"if you want to clear your name with me, you should tell me which parts of my information were incorrect and how it is relevant to the accusation. i will take up the dispute with my sources. if you stole the money, you should apologize and return it, even if you have to do it in payments. i know you don't give a shit what i think because you don't know me, but you used to be friends with my brother, and you and him share a lot of friends in common. if you want to repair the damage, you need to explain how you got the money you blew. if it came out of my wallet, there's only one right thing for you to do."

"Nick, it's simple. If you refuse to explain how you got the money you blew, then the most plausible explanation is that it came from my wallet. If you want this to end, explain yourself or return the money. I didn't say anything bad about your family. I only reported what they said of you."

"half of it you heard..from different people, but some of it wasnt true..and a lot of what you said isnt true..all that stuff you all had on a list wasnt there..most of it i didnt even get.i get paid every week......whats not to understand?..lets jus leave it at that"

"tell me specifically what wasn't true and I will confirm with my sources. my brother said you told him you had $20 bucks, so anything you spent above $20 needs to be accounted for. people said you spent hundreds."

"the evidence points at you until you've shown that you didn't spend hundreds of dollars. several people witnessed you spending a lot more money than you were supposed to have had. if you didn't take my money, this shouldn't be a big deal. there's no need to complicate this. just say what you did and didn't buy and explain how much money you had and where it came from. as long as you refuse to explain, it only makes you look like you're hiding something. you're working against yourself until you talk."
Lindell Lucy
"Nick, if you don't explain everything to me, then I have to assume you're guilty, and I will act accordingly. Surely you're smart enough to understand this. If you don't cooperate, whatever happens is your own fault, and I will feel no pity for you even if you're innocent. Please do yourself a favor and either explain or confess and apologize."

I've heard from someone who's heard from someone that Nick stole $150 out of his friend's mother's purse last week. I don't know if it's true, and I hate to spread more rumors, but that's what I heard. Does anyone know anything about this?

That was way 2 long winded but informative. I also heard about the woman getting money stolen out of her purse from this kid tho. My daughter was talkin bout it. Sounds like he is guilty, but u won't get anything back unless someone catches him red handed at it and he confesses to all the other thefts. Which I am sure he won't do. Someone will beat the crap out of him and teach him a lesson sooner or later. Sorry bout ur money.

Information about a thief is everybody's business because people need to be warned. I'm sorry if your stepfather and mother are displeased, but if there is to be anger directed towards anyone, it should be towards Nick. None of this would have been posted if Nick hadn't refused to explain how he came up with so much money right after mine disappeared.

I agree....if the cops won't or can't do anything the best way to deal with a thief is to expose 'em. Don't come on here defending someone if he is a thief....Mr. Lucy, my hat's off to you!

Maybe he got a part in the new Bewitched show and wiggled his nose and it made a funny sound and all those things he got just popped up like Samanatha does. He could nor explain how he got them or where the money came from to buy all that stuff because he nose-twitched it and it just appeared. So it is now process of elimination for big boy Nick or Slick Nick sounds better, it is either or, Slick. You nosed-wiggled the stuff in or you stole the money to buy the stuff. If you can't make a decision, I will vote on it based on what I have absorbed. I vote ..........you stole from Peter to pay Paul. Or you took the money. You did not steal it, you just took it.

Slick, if you are going to steal something, you must cover your tracks, you didn't and you did alot of taking and left yourself out in the open. Do you burn bridges with these people you take from?

Slick, you must set up a payment plan each month for one year and pay these people back. By doing this people will respect you for controlling your money and doing what is right. Also those people can verify you paid and paid on time and it get you a good credit score for sometime in your life you will be able to buy a new car and house. It is the prudent thing to do, Bless you Slicky Nicky

Get off Samantha's case. She didn't defend anyone. All she said is basically what any of you would say if you'd done something and your family was brought in it. This is between you people and Nick. Not his parents or family. Some of you act as if you're just so damn intelligent on this topix forum.

What is a "vapid sod?"

And Samantha can "pop up" any time she pleases. Just like you other "people."

I'm sure not going to defend Nick, but Samantha is right. Leave innocent people out of your love fest.

Samantha, any information relevant to the case of my stolen money (and 4 other people's stolen money, plus a tire slashing) ought not to be silenced until the wrongs have been redressed. I'm sorry if public discussion of a crime annoys you, but I promise you that losing $600 far outweighs your annoyance. Nothing bad has been said about your family, so there's little reason for you to be worked up about it. Everything said pertains to Nick's suspected thefts.

My understanding of this is that his family has disowned him and does not wish to be mentioned in the same breath. I at least did the favor of not mentioning specific names. I can't go back in and edit what I've already written, otherwise I would. What would you have liked me to say which wouldn't have simultaneously weakened my case? "His family personally told me they suspect him from stealing from two different members of his family, and they have consequently kicked him out of his own home." I don't know if there's any other way to say it. I'm happy to hear a suggestion, and I have no objection to such an edit taking place if there's a way to make such an edit. I don't know how to do it though.

I'll break it down so the term is easier to understand with a grade school reading comprehension.:(

vap∑id (vāp'ĭd, vā'pĭd) adj.
1. Lacking liveliness, animation, or interest; dull: vapid conversation.
2. Lacking taste, zest, or flavor; flat: vapid beer.
[Latin vapidus.]
va∑pid'i∑ty, vap'id∑ness n., vap'id∑ly adv.

In this context, vapid essentially means she is completely uninteresting and unenlightened.

sod
3  /s& #594;d/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [sod] Show IPA noun, verb, sod⋅ded, sod⋅ding. Chiefly British Slang.
Ėnoun
1. sodomite; homosexual.
2. chap; fellow; guy.
3. child; kid; brat. Compare bugger.

When I used this term, I meant to imply that she was childish, or a child.

Putting these terms together, you get "uninteresting child" in a much better package. Vapid sod. I love it!
