Your changing your tune now! I have children at every campus that can be and are being influence by their teachers! According to you though, I might as well stop parenting my child in high school because my role is done! And I guess Mrs. Kegley must have been working off the theory of "do as I say, not as I do"!!! Give me a break....go argue with a brick wall! I'm finished wasting time with you! I just have to accept that I can't argue with ignorance!!
Wow! Someone needs to learn to read.

I wasn't awarw that a nobel prize worthy addiction specialist was in our midsts. And you were able to do it all while being whacked out of your mind. I applaud you.
How many doctors, researchers and scientists that study addictions and treatments do yiu think are addicts?
And who is showing ignorance?

As a Corning High School alumni, let me assure all you worried parents that your children (with minor exceptions) are very unlikely to be traumatized from this event. Knowing CHS students as I do, I am willing to put down cash money on the fact that most of them are doing much harder substances than huffing air duster.

I'll tell you how this affected the kids, my neice came out of her room with a bad headache. Why? because the whole room smelled like paint thinner. Someone said it perfectly, if this was one of the students or one of the parents getting caught doing this we would be waiting on a court date!

Still nothing but NO COMMENTS when you ask at the school.

Guess it is a wait and see if she returns or if they advertise for the position and hire for it.

They didn't advertise the position "in house or out of house" They are using a temp. person that filled in for her the last time they let her go on paid leave. They continue the crazy and the kids pay the price. Wonder if the test scores will improve in the math relm after this years testing?

Yeah moron...you're right, we should just accept her huffing at school! Get a life and grow up! I'm not the type to sit back, knowing something is wrong and just accept it!

Are you telling me that what she did is o.k. because there are students who have done or may do the same things that she has done whether she did them or not? Are you CRAZY?

Yes, there are, but their parents probably wouldn't be the type to hang out on Topix of all places.

Yeah, we heard. She got arrested. Now about our kids using drugs, think again, things have changed since I or you were there. Sure, there are drugs in school, but not like back in my day. Do you have kids in CHS? Until you do maybe keep your sarcasm to yourself? I had Tara for Senior math years ago, and was ashamed at some of the sexual innuendos she would use with some of the guys in the class. She's never been any kind of example to have as a teacher in my book. She once told an entire class that she saw me doing something that i most assuredly WAS NOT doing. Needless to say once my class rolled around she left class crying when i was done with her. A grown adult, a teacher, spreading rumors about a student? She's never shown sound judgement.

CORNING, AR (KAIT)– According to the Corning Police Department, a Corning High School teacher was arrested after students turned her into school officials and the school's student resource officer for allegedly huffing in the classroom.

According to Corning Police, Tara C. Kegley, 47, of Corning was arrested and charged with breathing or inhaling intoxicating substances and endangering the welfare of a minor. Officers said she may face multiple charges for endangering the welfare of a minor, but will not know until her scheduled court date on March 22.

According to Resource Officer Luke Lane, he was notified of the huffing when he recieved up to seven text messages from students about her alleged substance abuse during one class period. He says he found three cans of vandalism remover aerosol cans, and a plastic bag with residue in it in her classroom after she was questioned by school officials and authorities. Those items are confiscated.

Superintendent J.M. Edington said the school has put Kegley on suspension with pay while they conduct an internal investigation, but declined to comment any further.

In a separate incident, Kegley was arrested by the Pocahontas Police Department on December 8, 2010 following a vehicle accident on the intersection of US Hwy 67 and US Hwy 62, according to the police.

Officers said Kegley had rear-ended another vehicle at the traffic light. According to police on scene, Kegley denied being intoxicated when asked and told them she had just left Black River Technical College Campus where she had been teaching a class. Officers said they then administrated a field sobriety test, which she failed.

Officers then said they asked her to give a breath test—the result being a .249.

Kegley was cited for DWI and careless and inattentive driving.

This is not enough we parents need to stand up for our kids. She needs to be treated just like any other citizen that done the same thing that she did. I was also told by a AR law enforcement officer that she should have been charged with theft because she stole the aerosol's to use them to get high.
