Transition from own PD to County Sheriff

The people in Ticonderoga continue to struggle with staffing their police department. They compete head to head with the Essex County Sheriff for available personnel and grant funding. With this era of economic hardship the police, while doing a good job, have driven the town to its knee's continully seeking more and more wages and benefits. It is currently costing Ticonderoga close to $ 750,000 to run the 24/7 operation with 7 FT and 2 PT officers. How much did Corinth save in transitioning over to contractual relationship with Saratoga County. Is it working for you folks and would you change anything if you had it do over again, please share with us.

My thought is that Saratoga County covers Corinth anyway, so isn't this double dipping? We also have State Police sub-station in Hadley. Why pay for something you should already be getting.
