Just make sure you get all the information on what they are going to charge you. I've always done my own (1040ez) but last year I had a 401k to deal with so I went to one that said it'd be 55 bucks, 10 dollars extra for each extra form they'd have to use. Cool, I thought, when I went to get them they said it was 85. They didn't mention that they auto file every return and charge you 10 for that, they wanted 10 bucks to fill a page out with my name and address and 10 more to itemize. When I asked why I wasn't told of this when priced the 55 and asked to see just what they 'itemized' they quickly went back to the 55 price. I could see if they actually did something but come on, made me wonder just how many people go oh ok and just pay it.

Doing them yourself is great and sometimes the best. But, if you itemize or have property etc, having a certified accountant is your best route. I did mine when I was single. My husband and I had ours done professionally since we owned other land and such. Many things can be claimed to help you and only an accountant may be aware of what you can claim. You want to make sure you pay all you need to but also want to get the return you deserve.

If you have your refund direct deposited to your bank, I believe the bank charges. I may not have that correct, but I remember my brother asking me and I ask my accountant or bank. It's been a year so I can't remember! Ha! I do remember though that the charge was $10. Worth checking into!

Actually, CB&S bank doesn't charge a dime to direct deposit , as long as you have an account with them.

Nope wasn't my bank, it was what they wanted to charge me for online filing which they didn't even mention in their quote. Very shady with their trying to charge 10 more to 'itemize' a w2 and a 401k form. To me itemizing is ya know taking a ton of receipts to them. And then 10 more for a form with my name and address on it? Please lol. I mean if you call they should mention they online file everything and add that to their price up front, not try and add it later.
Lesson learned, if I ever have to do that again I'll just do it myself.
