They certainly should but never will. If they would consolidate them they could have beautiful schools like the Corinth and Tish school districts to. Something that the kids could be proud of instead of embarrassed of. Especially ACHS, it is totally horrible.
The district would save so much money by combining them, less school buses, less electricity bills. Not to mention beautiful classrooms and campuses. The kids could at least have books.
We use to go to the Central schools but moved to Corinth many years ago and I wish we had moved them when they first started. The Corinth school district has much higher academics, their ACT scores our extremely high, the students get much more in scholarships and their sports programs are to die for.
With this being said it will never happen. The county schools are much more political. Very selfish on the part of the parents and residents of the county schools. They should fight for consolidation so that each child that attends a county school can be afforded the education they deserve.
My daughter graduated two years ago and is at Ole Miss and she has had several friends last year who were back home at Northeast by Christmas because they were not prepared. My nephew graduated this year from CHS and he has several friends that graduated from Kossuth and Central that he is now tutoring because they are struggling at Northeast.

I think they will be forced to consolidate. The political and economic situration will make it a 'have to' case. I too agree, it would be much better for all concerned.

Achs sucks its the worst school ever!! The teachers don't even teach they sit on their ass and text other teachers. And then like one of the teachers called my cell phone wanting to know where I was during class like for real I'm pretty sure there's a rule that says a teacher can't call a students phone!! Either way Alcorn central sucks!!!

The taxpayers are being ripped off by duplicitous administrations and boucoups of incompetent teachers. Close Biggersville, ACHS, and Kossuth and consolidate the schools and save the taxpayers money and quit subsidizing inadequate administrations and teachers.

I hear what ya saying, but its not about who will a game, its about quality education. I think that is part of the problem, its political. I also agree with the other person who said the parents were selfish, I agree. Its time we all thought about the children, not the sports--sports will take care of itself, with a school as large as a consolidated one here in the county Im sure there will be more then enough talented young men and women to have a succesfull sports program. All three county schools are falling apart anyway, sooner or later they will have to all be rebuilt, or we could just build one for all. Question is, how much longer can we afford to have three county high schools? Sooner or later something will have to give.

Then you have the same problem Memphis faces with consolidation. Another problem is you have the same teachers, same staff. What would you do then when you had a terrible person running the super school. No options for transferrin then.

Also everyone is all for creating and sustaining jobs. Look at how many teachers would lose their jobs. Is that really what corinth needs right now. I think not. There are other ways to reform rather than consolidation

Who is going to pay for a new school? Any donations since the state has cut education funding so much most counties are just scrapping by. Bonds can be done if everyone is on board for higher taxes to pay for this like corinth did. Read the state news, education has been under funded again for the 3rd straight year, even colleges are raising tutitions to offset it. If everyone is willing to pay more in taxes, let do it but look at the whole picture before making a snap decision on this.

The school system was not created to give jobs to people that are ignorant and barely above the literacy level. It wasn't created to give jobs to the friends of the administration and politicians. The jobs are not getting done by the hiring of individuals that are not competent to do the teaching and our school children are showing the results of this. Many of the Seniors within the Alcorn County system are illiterate and poorly educated. The boy that scored the perfect on the ACT moved here from another state.

In other words the kid that got the perfect score is not out of the bankrupt genetics around here. The people here are so under educated they pick people to run their schools who are poorly educated. To be an administrater here is to be educational unconcerned but an appeaser to all the petty whims of the parents. This county gets the kind of education it demands and deserves. What can you expect from a network of good-ole-boy/girls. Dumb ones at that.

What school did the kid that got the perfect score graduate from? I question this because it was not in the paper and every time a kid in the state gets a perfect score of 36 it has been in the Tupelo News Journal, and trust me, there has not been that many. I have been to the Star Student Banquet in Jackson, MS and there are usually a couple with a perfect score and they are usually from The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, and sometimes from Oxford.

In pretty damn sure they have to teach a certain curriculum with guidelines set by the sate and federal gov. I'm also pretty sure there isn't one illeterate teacher in the system. Take you uneducated illiterate self else where if you don't like it here. Problem solved.

Sure, we should re-open Union Center, Gift, Hinkle, Farmington, Kendrick, Fields and Bell. Nothing like a community school to create crony jobs for the right families. We are not wasting enough money on such now.
